Raquel Welch’s 4 Keys to Beauty

At 69, Raquel Welch is still one of the most attractive – and dignified – women in show business. Born on September 5, 1940, Welch (a meticulous and practical Virgo) has followed a strict beauty regimen and diet to keep herself in peak physical condition. Once declared “the most desired woman of the 1970s,” Welch looks stunning even as she enters her own 70s. In her new book, entitled Raquel: Beyond the Cleavage, Welch describes a life well lived – and what you can learn from her experience.

In an interview with AOL Health, Raquel Welch describes her daily routine:

“On a typical day, I wake up around 5 a.m. After a very light breakfast of egg whites and Bieler’s broth, I go to my yoga class that begins at 6:30 and goes until 8. After yoga, I feel energized, and I have my whole day ahead of me… When I get back from yoga, I might have poached or grilled salmon and some green steamed vegetables. Later in the day, around 1 or 2 p.m., I might have a meal with larger portions… like fish, veal, [or] chicken, and a big portion of vegetables. When you want to be lean and mean, you need to eat small portions throughout the day. It’s called grazing. Then in the evening, I’ll have a huge plate of steamed green, non-starch vegetables — celery, broccoli, snow peas, asparagus or spinach. The way I eat might sound too perfect for words — and I don’t do it every single day. I’m human.”

Welch’s routine centers around two primary features: a healthy diet, and yoga. This is no surprise, as eating right and exercise are the two best things you can do for yourself – but yoga, in particular, is now highly valued in our society as one of the best, most rejuvenating, most all-around life improving forms of exercise. Welch also recommends a positive attitude and moisturizing every morning and evening – no surprise. (Also no surprise, Welch is no stranger to Botox, though she is critical of its overuse, and the general over-reliance on cosmetic surgery.)

Quite simply, Raquel Welch shows us that staying healthy and looking good aren’t so complicated after all. Eat well, do yoga, stay positive and Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize!

What are your own routines for staying healthy and beautiful?

    Her routine sounds really simple.

But she doesn’t do cardio or weights/strength training?

I feel much better after a great 45 minutes of walking and jogging (Wogging, as it’s called nowadays) & some strength training at least 2 times a week, for 20 minutes. But I do Pilates, more than Yoga (I just got into Yoga), for about 30 minutes.

I saw the same interview too and the age old answer always being obviously avoided: PLASTIC SURGERY for starters…….especially if you’re going to mention how menopause “kicked your butt” unexpectedly!

I started using proper moisturizers when I was in my 20s. I always made sure and to this day, wash my face thoroughly every night, getting rid of any remaining make up residue and I use three different moisturizers on my face in the morning and at night. Plus, I use an under eye cream that helps with fine lines and dark circles. In the day I always wear sun block, even though I do not go into the sun.
Sadly, I can’t be the one who gives great advice here, because I really abused my body in my 30s by not doing anything and smoking cigarettes.
But now that I am in my 40s I work out at least three times a week with a trainer. I do a mix between strength training and cardio, as well as endurance and balance training. I pretty much log everything I eat, which holds me accountable. I try to avoid any type of processed food, and anything that contains high fructose corn syrup. Instead of coffee I drink green tea, sweetened with honey every morning.
I also eat a lot of fish; make myself salads for work and I eat tons of fruit.
I am not perfect at all, but I do my very best to avoid fast food, fried foods and processed, high fat containing items.
So far I have lost 10% of my body weight. I have only another 10 to go to be considered an athlete. It’s difficult, but on the upside I have tons of energy, I feel happy most of the time and people never believe I am even close to my 40s, even though I am turning 41 in September. The last time I was guessed, the person thought I was 28 🙂

There is so much more to her than meets the eye,

Recently I saw on TV where she was talking about her mistakes, as well as her regrets in regards to her children, It takes a real person to admit that they could done something different, even better.

She truly is one of the most beautiful woman by far, she has an immeasurable amount of class inside and out.

    Blessings and Big Hugs!

Wow! I’m not as disciplined, but I do try to walk 45 minutes to 1 hour per day and be careful with my diet. Although, over time I have lost the strict discipline of diet I had, I do have egg whites in the morning along with some fruit. When I was truly disciplined (and I have not retained that as well as Ms. Welch) I did eat broiled fish and lots of steamed vegetables at night. Moisturize, moisturize, yes-but I admit to being a sun lover and feeling that health seep into my body as the sunlight touches it.

I’m interested to see what others do and pick up tips from everyone else, too.

    Sincerely,

    Maryanne

    Well………

She is still one of the most beautiful women in show business ever, many out there aren’t old enough to remember her though as she was in her prime……but I swear this woman has barely aged !!!!!!

She was considered to be , by many men, THE sex symbol in her time…right up there with gals such as Marilyn Monroe even.

In public Raquel has always showed class and brains…… and still , to this day, astonishing beauty.

    Blessed Be )O(
