World Prepares for End of Mayan Calendar

Are you ready for December 21, 2012? Whether you believe something will happen or not, the world sure is bracing for a ride!

The Huffington Post reports:

MEXICO CITY (AP) — The clock is ticking down to Dec. 21, the supposed end of the Mayan calendar, and from China to California to Mexico, thousands are getting ready for what they think is going to be a fateful day.

The Maya didn’t say much about what would happen next, after a 5,125-year cycle known as the Long Count comes to an end. So into that void have rushed occult writers, bloggers and New Age visionaries foreseeing all manner of monumental change, from doomsday to a new age of enlightenment.

The 2009 disaster flick “2012” helped spark doomsday rumors, with its visions of Los Angeles crashing into the sea and mammoth tsunami waves swallowing the Himalayas. Foreboding TV documentaries and alarmist websites followed, sparking panic in corners of the globe thousands of miles from the Mayan homeland of southern Mexico and Central America.

As the big day approaches, governments and scientists alike are mobilizing to avoid actual tragedy. Even the U.S. space agency NASA intervened earlier this month, posting a nearly hour-long YouTube video debunking apocalyptic points, one by one.

The Internet has helped feed the frenzy, spreading rumors that a mountain in the French Pyrenees is hiding an alien spaceship that will be the sole escape from the destruction. French authorities are blocking access to Bugarach peak from Dec. 19-23 except for the village’s 200 residents “who want to live in peace,” the local prefect said in a news release.

“2012 is about making us see each other clearly. It’s not about the end of the world. That would be a fear-based mindset. Those people will see no benefit to the changes that are upon us.” – William ext. 5131

“I think this tells us more about ourselves, particularly in the Western world, than it does about the ancient Maya,” said Geoffrey Braswell, an associate professor of anthropology and leading Maya scholar at the University of California, San Diego. “The idea that the world will end soon is a very strong belief in Western cultures. … The Maya, we don’t really know if they believed the world would ever end.”

What do you think—will anything happen on December 21, 2012?

“My advice is this: Stay focused on the donut. Don’t fall into the hole of worry, despair, and fear. We will survive 2012 as we have survived so much before.” – Lucy ext. 5353

I belive nothing will happen on 12-21-12 to stop Christmas as we all prepare for the event with certainity. i believe we will become more aware of the fact that we are among demisnsions that are more evolved then we are for several reasons. Yes, we all are very aware that the planet Earth has come to a point of extinction if it doesnt rid itself of mankind and thats why we fear it.

It’s great that there are many events meant to poke a little fun at a fake apocalypse. I personally believe that nothing will happen. For me personally, it would be twice as serious because I just read a list of events taking place in Toronto and my children would never forgive me if we missed Disney on Ice taking place here just after the supposed end of the world. Actually that would be the real end of the world for me. :D

One thing I haven’t seen anywhere: Let’s say it starts over at the beginning; what’s the character and length of that era? And what historical time does it correspond to? Might be an idea for another post.

I’m setting my coffeemaker up the night before, as I do every night, so I can wake up to fresh coffee in the morning.

Between the world coming to an abrupt end or waking up to freshly brewed coffee, …….. I’m betting on the coffee. LOL

I DO, however, believe that we are entering a very dangerous age for mankind as a whole, if anything unfolds over the next few decades, it will be because mankind brought it on themselves.

Over population, a planet unable to sustain food and water for an over populated planet, polution, wars, global economic instability …..I believe we are entering the age of accountability of our past and present actions.
