Your Daily Focus: April 4 – 10

Your Daily Focus: April 4-10 | California Psychics

Understanding Your Daily Focus

Busy, busy, busy! Have you ever tried cramming in more things to do in an already jam-packed life? I think we have all been guilty of trying to burn that candle on both ends more than once in our lives, and right now I am definitely guilty of doing that!

So, how do we maintain our balance and peace while getting everything done? Well, by the end of this week’s daily focus, we are going to learn how we can get everything accomplished and not lose our sanity or our well-being!

April 4

“We all know our money isn’t infinite, yet we end up treating our time and energy and attention as if they are.” Shane Parrish

The first way to not get overwhelmed is not to put ourselves in that situation. I liken this quote to the visualization of when we wake up, we have only so many spoons that we can use to do tasks and once those spoons are gone we are done for the day. Sometimes it is okay to say ‘no’ when asked if we can take on one more duty, task, or responsibility. If you wouldn’t spend your hard-earned money frivolously, why would you spend something equally as precious? Today’s word is Finite.

April 5

“He who every morning plans the transactions of that day and follows that plan carries a thread that will guide him through the labyrinth of the most busy life.” Victor Hugo

Having a clear-cut plan to get through our overly busy days is key! I’m not saying that you have to plan things out in five minute increments but setting a schedule for yourself in 15 minute or 30 minute sections can make a huge difference in what you are able to accomplish. Just remember to put in the priorities first – and yes, you are a priority! So, make sure you schedule a few minutes for yourself so that you can catch a breath and refresh yourself. Today’s word is Planner.

April 6

“If I had six hours to chop down a tree, I would spend the first four hours sharpening the axe.” Abraham Lincoln

After the planning of our day is finished, the next step is to ensure that we have all the tools we need. What can you do ahead of time to make the task or job you need to do easier and go quicker? Maybe that might include prepping things the night before or lining up your daily errands so that you don’t have to backtrack or make multiple trips. Just as you take time to plan, take the needed time to prepare too. Today’s word is Tools.

April 7

“Tomorrow is often the busiest day of the week.” Anonymous

Many times, when we find ourselves bogged down with too many tasks, responsibilities, and expectations we tend to procrastinate and put things off. The downside to this is that all those things are going to be at a crisis point eventually, and then we will find ourselves even more stressed because we will have no choice but to face them. Sometimes we need to put things off, but usually it is not in our best interest to wait until the last minute. If you find that your ‘Tomorrow’ list is getting long, try adding in just one item from that list to your ‘Today’ list and you will find that your tomorrow may not be as scary as you thought. Today’s word is Increments.

April 8

“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” Helen Keller

When an objective is too big, we sometimes have to admit this and ask for help. That help might be to get more people in on a big job like Spring cleaning, or simply delegating tasks to other people so that you are freed up to focus on those things that only you can do. There is nothing wrong with saying that you can’t do it all by yourself. Chances are there are people ready to jump in, but they didn’t want to step on your toes. Today’s word is Together.

April 9

“The really expert riders of horses let the horse know immediately who is in control, but then guide the horse with loose reins and seldom use the spurs.” Sandra Day O’Connor

Once you’ve delegated tasks, the next thing that you need to remember is not to constantly watch and redo what those people are working on. I know, easier said than done. If you have given the right task to the right person you should be confident enough in their abilities that all you will need to do is take a peek every so often to make sure that everything is running smoothly. You can’t be both the horse and the rider. Today’s words are Let Go.

April 10

“Concentrate all your thoughts upon the work at hand. The sun’s rays do not burn until brought to a focus.” Alexander Bell

Being able to focus can be hard when you have so many things to get done, but focusing on one task at a time is the only way to get through that list. If you worry that you will not be able to do this for extended periods of time, set a timer for 15 minutes and then, if you feel that you are ready for another 15, go for it. If you are feeling numb, switch things up a bit until you are ready to return to the original project. Today’s word is Targeted.
