Tipping the Balance Between Light and Dark

Keeping the Lights On in Your Life

We all know the basics of the Law of Attraction: If you want positive things to manifest in your life, think positively and shoot for positive goals. Don’t dwell on the negatives. Don’t dwell on defeat. Aim higher and challenge yourself to always look on the bright side of life. Forgive, forget, and move towards your highest good.

Conversely, if you want negative things to manifest in your life, always think negatively. Dwell on mistakes you’ve made, decide you’re no good, give up, and assume that there’s something wrong with you or the world. Stay stuck and be afraid.

Is life as simple as how we see it? Is what we make of our experience as simple as how we choose to look at it?

I believe the answer is yes. Happiness is a choice. Positivity and success rather than negativity and failure are a choice—a simple shift in how we choose to interpret our lives.

As Rivers ext. 5273 says, “Happiness is not something you can expect other people to give you. Happiness comes from within yourself. Happiness is a choice.”

However, it’s more difficult than choosing the right outlook. Far more complex is maintaining that outlook.

You may have a great, breakthrough moment with yourself one day where you realize that you’re going to walk on the bright side of the street from now on. You might feel incredible for the rest of the day. You might notice yourself breathing more deeply, opening up, and noticing potential opportunities and chances for new experiences around you that you never would have noticed if you’d had your head stuck in a rain cloud.

But what about the next day? What happens when you (perhaps inevitably) begin to slide back into your old patterns? Maybe you turn on your iTunes and notice that all the stuff you normally listen to reinforces your old negative thought patterns. Maybe you hang out with your negative friends and expect yourself to not be influences. Or maybe you just wake up on the wrong side of the bed the next day.

We’re not just what we think in the moment. We’re also our general pattern of thought, influenced by all of the thoughts we’ve had and actions we’ve taken in our whole lives. So if our past backlog (what we might call karma) is negative, how do we permanently shift the balance into positive?

I think it’s as simple as figuring out the root reason for lifetime our negative patterns. If it’s childhood trauma, seek professional help to deal with it. If we were raised in a negative mindset by our parents or authority figures, that’s also something to seek help in dealing with.

But even more important than this, I believe, is uncovering our own basic goodness. If we have a negative outlook, it’s likely because we decided, at some point, that we weren’t deserving of the good things in life. We decided we were “bad.” And that could have been for any number of reasons, but I think it really is as simple as having an on/off switch somewhere deep inside, which we can flick to either “I’m a good person” or “I’m a bad person.”

And at the end of the day, you’re the only one who can flick that switch one way or the other.

Which will it be?

“As we enter this new age of awareness and hope, may we begin to live each day in a new light with a renewed energy of purpose and enlightenment.” – Faith ext. 9608

Krishna, thank you for bring light to this subject. Everything we manifest begins with a thought…so choose your thoughts carefully.

The above quote , taken from the article, is true,…. only YOU can flip the switch and decide to change…..but I’d say don’t over-think it too much…..just psyche yourself up and then forge ahead and DO IT!!!!.
