Understanding Your Daily Focus

Warm greetings, fellow seekers.

From the day we are born trust is something that we rely on every day. In the beginning, we need to trust our parents and family members to guide, teach, and protect us. As we get older, we start to trust others and make friends, and in time we learn to trust ourselves. Sometimes we misplace our trust and find ourselves hurt and betrayed and it can be difficult to trust others again. Worse is when we stop having faith in ourselves because we thought that we could open up to others and then we learn that we were wrong.

We sometimes lose faith in what the Universe has planned for us and that can lead us to the proverbial “Dark Night of the Soul’. What is important to remember, whether we are talking about trust in ourselves, others, or our path, is that ultimately everything happens the way that it needs to. Lessons can be painful, but none the less we learn what we need to in order to grow and reach our full potential.

In this week’s Daily Focus, we are talking about trust and how it impacts our todays and our tomorrows.

October 19

“There is no one more powerful than the one who trusts their own heart” Mimi Novic

Have you ever met someone who just seems to exude an unbelievable amount of confidence and who has an energy that just infects you with that same confidence? I have had that pleasure a few times and it is something to see and feel. That kind of palpable confidence isn’t just a show, it can only come from an individual that not only knows who they are but also trusts themselves and their heart. That amazing power (to me it’s a superpower) doesn’t come overnight or easily, but it is well worth the hard work that it takes to get there. Today’s word is Heartfelt.

“The more you believed in yourself, the more you could trust yourself. The more you trust yourself, the less you compare yourself to others.” Roy T. Bennett

Gaining true confidence and personal power comes, in part, from knowing that your worth is not dependent on how you are viewed by or in comparison to others. It comes from understanding your true strengths, acknowledging your weaknesses, and being willing to work on them so that they don’t become a hindrance to your growth. The more you know yourself the easier it is to trust in yourself and your instincts. When we compare who we are and where we are in our journey to others, the seeds of doubt get planted and we become afraid to step out in faith and live our truth. Today’s word is Credence.

October 21

“To be trusted is a greater compliment than being loved.” George MacDonald

We can build unbelievably strong emotional ties to people, but trusting someone completely can take a while, even when we love them. It is easier to say the words “I love you” than it is to say “I trust you” for most of us, simply because even if we do love a person we may or may not trust them with all of our secrets, fears, hopes, and dreams. When you hear the words “I trust you” from someone in your life take it as the immense compliment that it is, and take them to heart for trust is the foundation of true relationships. Today’s word is Foundation.

October 22

“Trust is like a vase, once it’s broken, though you can fix it, the vase will never be same again.” Walter Anderson

We often give our trust to others easily, believing in the inherent goodness of people. But once we have been betrayed, as much as we may love the one that hurt us, we may or may not be able to trust them the same way again. When a vase breaks you can glue back together, but if you try to use it the way it was meant water may leak out. You can always try to put the pieces back together when a friend or lover breaks your trust and confidence, but much like that vase, it may not be able to function as well as it once did. It is up to you to decide if you can salvage the pieces. Today’s word is Mend.

October 23

“Trust is like the air we breathe – when it’s present, nobody really notices; when it’s absent, everybody notices.” Warren Buffett

We take breaths without even thinking about it but if the air were to suddenly be sucked out of the room, we would definitely feel it. Having faith and trust in others works the same way. There is an unspoken expectation that during our interactions people will be honest with us and are trustworthy, and when it has been broken or is no longer there the environment that our interactions take place in will feel different no matter what we try to do. It is important to be able to notice the subtle differences in that energy so that we can start to pick up on those people that we can and should trust. Today’s word is Atmosphere.

October 24

“Don’t trust everything you see. Even salt looks like sugar.” Unknown

While it’s important to open up and trust ourselves and others, it is just as important to be cautious and objective as we are doing so. We normally go on our first impressions or assumptions of things, and though things normally end well, sometimes it is in our best interest to take a second look at it. Do your research, ask questions, ask those you trust for their insight and then maybe try a little sample before you put the proverbial spoonful in your coffee. Today’s word is Discernment.

October 25

“Trust because you are willing to accept the risk, not because it’s safe or certain.” Unknown

We might think that trusting people and opening ourselves to the potential of pain, betrayal, and doubt probably sounds like a crazy thing to do, but life would be a very long and lonely existence if we didn’t take that risk. We trust because it is part of being human and growing, because it brings amazing wonders, opportunities, and people into our lives, and because we are drawn to the unknown. Continue to take those risks and trust in others and in ourselves The rewards usually far exceed the drawbacks. Today’s word is Acceptable Risk.

Thank you, dear Dask, for providing an analysis of what others think about the meaning of “trust”, which I personally consider as something precious and something very fragile that we can easily lose.
I love to read your detailed explanation, which I find inspiring and very helpful.
    God bless you,
