The Mentalist on DVD

For all of you out there looking to hone your powers of intuition, CBS’ crime show The Mentalist just released their first season on DVD. The series follows a celebrity psychic who has fallen from public grace as he tracks a serial killer using his intuition and mental acuity.

I haven’t seen it yet, anyone watch? If there are any psychics who watch, what do you think of the show’s use of intuition?

    Hi, Abigail ~
Thanks for clarifying that for me. I started watching in the middle of last season, and while I knew he had lost his family because of Red John, I didn’t know he blamed himself and that he put his abilities aside. He’s always saying that he’s not a psychic, so that’s what I figured. THANKS!!
But why did they have to put it on at 10pm? I’m lucky I can stay awake until 9!! I guess I’ll have to set the DVR to come on each week so I won’t miss it.
    Have a great weekend.
    Hugs,
    Fran

    Dear Abbey (abigail hehe)
Thanks for the preface. Ok, I am for sure going to watch it now. I still miss night time soaps for adults. Grew up on Dallas/knots landing/dynasty-what happened? No more shows like that. One of my other fav’s was that, “unsolved mysteries,”
Would someone please let me know if there is anything like this around, today. Otherwise, it’s me and my favorite weather man, Al Roker, in the morning! 🙂 Al always gets me in a good mood, I am so used to starting my morning with him. He has great energy and I like that NBC morning show. But I will try this show, thanks.

I’ve been watching this since it started last season on Tuesday evenings before it moved to Thursdays. I watch it every week. He is Psychic The death of his family that made him give it up.He gave up on his abilities because he thought he failed his family. It was his abilities that were helping police track the serial killer and that put them in harms way. The killer got the family so he lost his faith in himself. He uses hypnosis, hypnotic techniques, modalities and NLP for reading behaviors. It’s a good show I love it….and he’s very hot to boot too!
    Many Blessings

    Hi Chloe….
    You raised a good point…
Actually…Some detectives in real life actually do take intuitive awareness classes to sharpen
    their ” hunches “.
I trained a homicide detective myself, just for that purpose ,back in 1989….

    Hi Fran,
Simon Baker falls into the category of:
” What Gina wants for Christmas this year ”
    ……he he
He was great in the movie The Devil Wears Prada too!
    Have a great weekend….

Oh my gosh, you’ve got to watch it, even if it’s just to look at Simon Baker!!!
It’s actually a good show. He’s not really a psychic….but he can “read” people….he’s very observant. My 13-yr old is in love with him! (Can’t blame her!)
I miss you. How have you been? Things are good….
    Love,
    Fran

I thought I’d just pipe in here because I have seen the show and I’ve really enjoyed it. The show does occationally takes some leaps but it does try to emphasize that intuition isn’t just a bunch of hocus pocus. It’s a combination of perception, trusting what you can see/feel underneath the surface of a person or situation, and then being able to piece it together by analysizing what it all means. Simon Baker does a wonderful job communicating that through his character and as luck would have it, he’s also just beautiful man to watch : )
