Maya Angelou Receives Medal of Freedom

Poet Maya Angelou was awarded the Medal of Freedom today by President Obama, along with a large group of American luminaries, including George Bush, Sr. Her many books include the autobiography of her early years, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, and she was crucial in the organizing of the civil rights movement, working closely with both Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, Jr.

Born on April 4, 1928 in Saint Louis, MO, Angelou’s sun is in Aries, her moon is in Libra, and her ascendant is in Leo. This reveals an intensely strong personality (Leo and Aries) dedicated to pushing through social barriers, with the deeper driver of creating balance (Moon in Libra). This is a social reformer’s chart, the type of configuration prominent in those who assist in adjusting the course of societies.

UPI reports:

WASHINGTON, Feb. 15 (UPI) – Former President George H.W. Bush, poet Maya Angelou, and sports greats Stan Musial and Bill Russell will receive the highest U.S. civilian award Tuesday.

They will join 11 others at the White House in receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom – which recognizes people who have made “an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.” The other recipients include former civil rights leader U.S. Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., visual artist Jasper Johns and billionaire investor Warren Buffett, the White House said.

What do you think—do Angelou’s stars predict her rise to global importance, or did free will play a greater role?

The question posed at the end of this article is : What do you think—do Angelou’s stars predict her rise to global importance, or did free will play a greater role ?

I feel it was her FREE WILL that played the greater role !
