Overcome Adversity and Unlock Your Potential

Overcome Adversity and Unlock Your Potential

You Say “Adversity” Like It’s a Bad Thing

Adversity is a part of life none of us gets to escape, and it’s certainly not something we choose. However, we do have a choice in how we face difficulties and rise above them. You can choose to let adversity define you, or you can choose to overcome adversity and unlock your potential. What better way to build strength and character from within than to see adversity as a building block rather than a stumbling block.

Wondering what lessons adversity is trying to teach you? Read with a life path psychic and find out!

According to essentiallifeskills.net, Herodotus, the Greek philosopher, said, “Adversity has the effect of drawing out strength and qualities of a man that would have lain dormant in its absence.” By facing fears, worries, loss, heartache or pain in any form, we can transform ourselves from victim to victor. And once we’ve overcome one hurdle, we become better able to face the next.

Obstacles to Overcome

There are many ways we hold ourselves back from realizing our true potential. Here are some examples of the fears and doubts you may face and how you can work around them in order to overcome adversity:

1. Fear of the Unknown
Sometimes it seems safer to remain in a place that’s familiar no matter how painful it may be. However, if you’re frozen in a moment of misery, you’re not moving forward. The path of least resistance leads to nowhere. The key to moving forward and stepping into your own unique world of possibilities is to take one simple step at a time. It’s not a race; it’s a destination. Along the way, you’ll probably face other challenges, but continue being in that space of faith rather than fear. When you overcome adversity you build strength until you become unstoppable.

2. The Blame Game
When faced with adversity, it’s all too easy to see situations through a negative lens. What doors are closing in your face or who are the people standing in your way? But when you focus on outside circumstances as your obstacles, you’re not only playing the blame game, you’re giving others all of the power. However, they aren’t in control of your life. You are. If you really want to overcome adversity, use your energy to concentrate on what you can do to get around your current situation regardless of who or what is standing in your way.

3. Redirect Your Focus
As we mentioned earlier, adversity and hardship are facts of life, and everything in life has both a positive and negative side. If you follow the Law of Attraction, you know that what you focus on becomes your reality. If you focus on what’s keeping you from realizing your vision or potential, you will only see obstacles. Likewise, if you focus on all that can go right, you begin to see the potential in your circumstances—potential you can build on. Some people see the glass as half-full while others see it as half-empty.

You Are a Powerful Force of Nature

Everyone’s path is unique, as are the obstacles they’ll face. What isn’t unique is the innate ability to overcome adversity and create the life you desire—both personally and professionally. Even the biggest obstacles become less intimidating once you’re viewing them from your rearview mirror.

Marianne Williamson, a world-renowned spiritual teacher, said, “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond imagination. It is our light more than our darkness which scares us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who are we to be brilliant, beautiful, talented, and fabulous? But honestly, who are you to not be so?’”

Movers and Shakers

There are many examples in today’s world of people who have faced immeasurable obstacles and refused to be defined by them. These people had dreams and visions that were too strong to ignore, so they fought their way to the top of their game. Once they were able to overcome adversity, they continued creating new paths and innovations. Here are some examples of movers and shakers who are still unlocking their potential every day:

  • Actor, director, and screenwriter Tyler Perry was homeless and used his life experiences to create characters and stories that made him famous.
  • Business mogul Bill Gates had his first business fail before he founded Microsoft.
  • J.K. Rowling was a single mother living on welfare when she penned her first book, which was rejected many times before it was published.
  • Music mogul Jay-Z couldn’t get a record label to sign him so he created his own label.

You can be just as powerful and amazing as you want to be as long as you don’t take no for an answer and don’t let anyone or anything stand in your way.

To sit in the face of adversity and waver, is to cower before my own destiny. To allow fear, procrastination , to rob me of victories and of the joy that comes from reaching the top of the “mountain” – this is pure evil in my opinion. This is what I am listening to in my head, instead of listening to the voice of Truth, that wants me to find and share joy in my short time on this planet. I believe everyone’s potential is simply joy, and love…and to spread it to others. This is my adversity. And thank u for helping me realize it. Now it seems important to overcome it-
Wow. I can see a bigger picture already, and I feel like I have more desire- thank u sooo much. -m.n.
