What is Clairaudience?

Have you ever heard someone call your name — physically heard it — but when you turned around or answered, nobody was around? Have you ever had a discussion with a person that has crossed over and either heard their voice or the answers in your own head? Have you ever heard their voice with your physical ear? Have you ever started to do something but were scolded or told to stop by another voice other than your own when nobody else was around? Have you ever laid in bed at night or been in a very quiet location and it sounded like many people were chattering or talking?

These are all clairaudient experiences. True clairaudience is when you hear these things with your physical ear as though they are an outside voice actually talking to you. Telepathic clairaudience is when you hear the voices inside your own head.

I am a primary clairaudient psychic. Besides channeling, it is the psychic sense I make the most use of. This is how I get the vast majority of my information both during and outside of a session. Because of this, most of my students eventually develop this ability and most, unfortunately, think they are going crazy the first time they are lying in bed and realize that “the voices” are chattering with them. Eventually you learn to tell those voices “one at a time!” or “Tune it up or tune it out!”

I have had both telepathic and clairaudient experiences for most of my life. Always thought I was a candidate for “the loony bin” until recently when I connected with another psychic who could see the people who were speaking to me and we realized I primarily communicate with the dead. Trying to learn more about this ability and how to hone it/improve it to the point that I can actually have consistent conversations. My spirit guide and I have discussions all the time, but I’m not always able to completely understand what other entities are saying when I hear them.

    Thanks for a concise definition.

Hi I’ve recently only just takeing notice of what’s been happening most of my adult life and a a few times as a child. Most of my adult life I have experienced the “chattering” as u have described it.. Which did make me laugh because that is exactly what it is. It all starts when im laid in bed and its totally silent and I’m very tired an ready to sleep. I hear ppl talking, but its in my head not like someone is in the room with me, only way I can describe. Like when u think to urself, well its like that but its not me, sometimes they say a name very loud in my head an it makes me jump. Wen i was a child I was once playin in the playground and I heard my name being shouted, but I felt this voice was scared and that upset me. I recently have looked up online and realised that infact what I have been experieceing is infact clairaudience telepathy. I want to develop this more an learn how to communicate properly with the spirits. Any help would be great. Thanku 🙂 xx

    Hi….
    Great article
Having been born a very strong clairaudiant….
..but also clairvoyant ( I actually see and think in pictures ” image streaming ” )….and am a triple empath. My Guides start talking as soon as the client starts talking during a reading.
Sometimes I have to tell my Guides not to all talk at once…..they usually take turns though,as they seem to have individual areas of interest…..

Many, many years ago….one of my Guides whispered a warning twice, within minutes, in my ear, that I heeded, which actually saved my life.

    Hi, Jaela,
Thanks for a great article explaining clairaudience. I’ve been a telepathic clairaudient, clairvoyant, and empath since birth and definitely use it in my readings. I’ve always found clairaudience to be a great comfort when I receive a message for myself and am always delighted to explain how it works to clients.
Clairaudience is such a comfort to clients who are attempting to establish an avenue of communication with a loved one who has passed over.
    Sincerely,
    Maryanne
