Becoming Psychic Late in Life

We asked some of our psychics if it was possible to obtain psychic abilities mid-life and without having any sort of traumatic event occur such as a near-death experience. This is what a couple of them had to say …

Although I had had vague premonitions in my adult life, I did not “become” psychic and realize my potential until I was 40 years old. At that time, I had a desire to learn to read the Tarot, and so I bought the cards and accompanying book.

As I studied and practiced with the tarot, I became aware that the message the cards laid out was not the message that I “saw” or “heard” in readings for friends and relatives using the cards. I soon came to realize that I needed to pay more attention to what was in my head than what the cards indicated. I practiced “listening” without trying to use logic or worldly knowledge. This was difficult, to say what I received, not matter how illogical it seemed to me. But that is how readings are done, I found, not using logic but conveying what is received.

I never have had a near-death experience. The best way I can explain the development of the psychic sense we all have is to listen to what information we receive internally, to meditate and to use a sense of intention toward achieving the goal of psychic development.

I agree with Psychic Tansy. I do feel that everyone has intuition and psychic ability to a degree. You know sometimes people may slip and something like, “I have a bad feeling about this, ” or “I knew I should have done …..” I just feel that society’s view on psychics has been so negative, that people almost feel abnormal to think of themselves as psychic or intuitive. Most people will not tap into the gift. But I feel that becoming “psychic” is really becoming more intune, aware and accepting the gift inside. I also agree with Psychic Tierny, that people do not have to have near death experiences to become psychic. What a great blog!!

    Hello,

Everyone has a third eye and everyone has the ability to open up and use those senses, there are all kinds of valuable tools that show you the path, once you start to know how the path fills, then you can go there next time easier, its like you know you want to go to Grandmas house, but you don’t know the way, you don’t know how to get there, so you buy a map, you read the map several times, imagine driving there, view all different possible options, then, you actually take the trip, next time you might need to refresh your mind on exactly how to get there, so you look at the map, you take the trip, at that point you know how to get to Grandmas house.

This is the same rule for opening up you abilities, whether it be cards, astrology, pendulums, I ching, (there are so many out there) they are all maps, tools that help you open up, show you the path, once you know the path, it is easy to find your way back.

    Blessings and Big Hugs!

this is great-and i am sure, no doubt this was enhanced as you got older. however, it was always “there” you just did not know how to tap into the energy-
connect the dots…i do not have an issue with tools because i used them as a teenager-dabbled in a lot of stuff in my teens and early twenties-it was when i learned how to channel and do the medium energy i realized that i was more accurate w/out tools-but that may not be the case for everyone-look whether you use tools or not, if you can get accurate answers, more power to you! we all have our own style. but i truly feel the ability was “there” the entire time…yes it got stronger…but this is awesome…
    cheers, miss krystal

I have to agree with Giovanna 5214. Although I intuitively read astrologically, from the very beginning I recognized that many of my callers require deeper psychic insights. I DO utilize cards, but they are NOT Tarot. The deck I use are Titania’s Fortune Cards. They are a deck of 36 picture cards. I only use them to keep my right brain hemisphere active during the reading. The cards actually taught me how to read them. The cards show me what is happening, and the outcome, and the caller’s astrological blueprint shows me why it is happening and the solution. This pretty much sums up what I do.

    Hi,
Psychic ability can develope at any juncture in a persons life…….

…children are extremely psychic, but in our society of today, most are not encouraged to develope thier natural 6th sense for fear of ridicule.

I consider myself truly blessed as I was tutored from the very early age of 5 years old by my GreatAunt who was a famous psychic, who also worked with Edgar Cayce.

But everybody has some type of psychic ability…..it’s all starts with learning how to meditate, and become aware in the moment of what you are receiving….and not fearing it.

I’ve trained many psychics who developed their latent abilities later in life…..some of them received a wake-up call due to traumatic experiences………

While others simply could not ignore their gifts any longer and pretend it wasn’t there……(LOL)…..

While others were simply afraid of their gifts in their earlier years due to social stigma or fear of ridicule.

And I’ve noticed that naturally, exceptionally , gifted psychics usually experience their gifts growing stronger as they grow older.

    Blessed Be )O(

This is exactly why I am a no tools reader! Thanks so much for sharing your experience =) For me, the cards represent something I have to logically piece together, which makes it impossible for me to get my thoughts out of the way to receive. I have tried many decks in the past (years ago), the pendulum, etc., and have been unable to use any of them.

And you are right–it IS difficult to release and receive! For me, especially so due to having a decade plus of university study in hard sciences and psychology. I had been taught to do exactly opposite of what I need to do to be in alignment with my clair-channels. Building confidence is also key when it comes to accepting what we’re given.

Again–you are so right in your words–thank you so much for sharing. It’s highly helpful for me to know someone else has had a similar experience!

    Namaste and Blessings~
