Are Missed Connections Fated?

Last month we blogged about Rainn Wilson’s new site SoulPancake that explores all matters spiritual. Today they had an interesting post that many of our CP readers can relate to.

The question posed was this…Are missed connections coincidences or fate? Have you ever seen someone on a train or bus, at a bar or restaurant and just felt like you were supposed to be with them only to let the opportunity pass you by?

Those who refer to fate actually mean to say this: The grapes were sour!
However, they are not honest enough to admit that whatever we get, we get because of making an effort; short of that, we simply caused ourselves a loss. Nothing was “fated.” I say that because I have had many missed connections–and it is clear that I screwed up. I don’t blame “fate” for my failing to take action, even while the other was making an effort.

I feel the same way…I believe that Sometimetims God puts you in an unfavorable position….such as a marriage partner you thought was perfect, but turned out just the opposite , so when the “right” one comes along you are even more aware of how blessed you are to be with that person worth waiting for…

This almost happened to me in July. I met someone by “chance”. As we spoke I learned he had been present at my brother’s wedding and another event I was also in attendance at. I had never met him before though. At the time of the wedding he was engaged and I was married. Now, this time we were both single( I am divorced). I felt such a strong connection to him. As I was leaving I could not bear the idea I would never see him again. I felt too connected. I walked back and did something I have never done. I told him to give me his phone and I entered my number. So it wasn’t a missed connection because I took matters into my own hands. We are still seeing each other. 🙂

    Hi….
There are no coincidences in life.
The second time I died, as I was literally dying, my life was flashing in front of my eyes….like dominos falling down quickly in a row…. and I saw that every event, even missed connections, was linked to everything else.
Even small things happened for a reason, which led to something else in the future…like links in a chain.

    I think they are.
In my case they happened a lot about 3 years ago in a really messed up period of my life I find quite amusing now. I still regret them a bit, but I understand I was far too inmature for those meetings back then, and little by little I´m encountering the people I missed then. I´m hoping it´ll come to a full circle eventually!
    Thank you for the article.

I believe we’ve all had this experience at one time or another, or, for some of us, more than once.
My feeling is that missed connections such as these are, for the most part, fate. Positive fate, I believe, as the connection is missed because there is a more secure or more favorable connection to be made in the future, and the universe wants to leave space in our lives for that connection to come in.
