You Are What You Think: Understanding the Blues

Understanding the Blues

Shooing the Blues Away

All of us get the blues from time to time, but have you ever wondered why? Feeling low is tied to many things, but is especially tied to the thoughts we have. Have you heard the saying, “You are what you eat?” Well, when it comes to the blues, you are what you think.

Allowing your mind to replay painful experiences, dwelling on times when you have felt wronged or betrayed, or thinking that you are not enough (beautiful enough, successful enough, abundant enough, etc.) can lead to feeling the blues. But these thoughts do not reflect your true worthiness or the true perfection of your being.

Be Aware of Your Thoughts

To lift yourself up and out when you are feeling low, first begin by becoming aware of your thoughts. Take a step back and reflect on what thoughts you had before you started feeling blue. Have you been replaying an argument you had with another? Going over every moment of a recent breakup? Wondering whether or not someone is telling you the truth or has been deceiving you? Such thoughts will immediately produce an effect in your auric field or on your energy levels and your energy will drop. This is what we commonly refer to as “feeling low.”

Replace Low Thoughts With Higher Thoughts

Next, once you have traced back your thoughts and have found the culprits, lift your energy up by immediately replacing those thoughts with higher ones. Have you ever seen the movie Forrest Gump? If you have had the pleasure of seeing this wonderful movie, you know that Forrest’s mother taught him loads of little sayings to cheer him in difficult circumstances. The one we all know is “Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.” This is how you replace a lower thought with a higher one.

Try These Higher Thoughts

Let’s say you are thinking about how a person hurt you and how bad that made you feel. Try shifting your focus to his or her humanity and focus on forgiveness. Try saying this to yourself: “People are not perfect, and they make mistakes. I am hurt, but perhaps they are hurting too. I am also strong and resilient.” If you are wondering if someone is telling you the truth, you can choose a higher thought. Try saying: “It may be that they are not telling me the truth, but no one can truly harm me.” Or, “I will know what I need to know when I need to know it.” And, how about replacing “They’re so beautiful, but I can never be that beautiful” with “I have been placed here for a special purpose and whatever and whoever I am is exactly what I am meant to be.”

You’re Retraining Your Mind

Slowing down your thoughts and retraining your mind will have a profound change on your energy levels and therefore your life. Meditation is another awesome way to learn to discipline the mind, and works well with replacing lower thoughts with higher thoughts! I just want you to know that you can end your blues instantly by shifting your thoughts upwards. It will put a smile back on your face!

Happy thinking!

Another fabbo article, people are what they , eat, drink, and think! We are all entitled to feeling down, but we are our masters in feeling UP! Live in the moment, enjoy what we have, and think, I can choose how I feel about things!

The thought is a seed that creates your reality. I learned this in Science of Mind 1. I had begun my journey of changing my thoughts a few years earlier when I was in a relationship with an alcoholic, drug addict. I knew I had to get out so I worked with a Chakra Healer. I did visualizations every day that helped me be able to eventually leave.
Since then, there have been several times in my life when I said “OMG, this is where I saw myself a few months or years ago?”
It works, but skeptics will find reasons and excuses to continue wallowing in their misery. I know because I tried to help a few people in my life. Family is the hardest people to have an impact on!

I have read that the thought comes BEFORE the feeling and it does make sense when you trace the feelings back to their origin. So controlling our thoughts is the key to having more control over the direction of our lives as thoughts are the start of just about everything.
