Celebrating the Holiday Season Cosmically
Across the globe the Midwinter holidays are celebrated as a return of the light. Whether you are lighting the Christmas tree, burning the Yule log, lighting the Hanukkah menorah or any other folk tradition, you are celebrating light in the darkness. The winter solstice marks the longest night of the year and the time when the sun returns. From this point on, in the northern hemisphere, days will be getting longer. What better time than to celebrate letting your light shine?
This midwinter, December 21, 2012, we are moving through a powerful planetary portal. For the first time in 26,000 years, our sun and source of light is aligning with the center of our galaxy: the galactic equator. Just as the Mayan calendar predicted we are coming to the end of one age and the beginning of another. It is not the doomsday end of the world, as so many fears, but simply the end of one larger cycle and the beginning of another. The Mayan calendar simply resets to a new era on this highly anticipated day. That being said, the new era is one heralded by many ancient cultures as the Golden Era. There is much information on this shift available, but to make matters brief we are being offered wonderful opportunity to for massive growth and renewal.
Over the last few months leading up to this powerful astrological and planetary shift I have become aware of how many clients are going through major shifts and tough times. Areas of our life that no longer serve our highest good are being tested, shaken and even done away with. It is a symbolic death process and it sure can hurt. For instance, many jobs and relationships have had to come to an end, and the process has been challenging ever for the most stout of heart. If you’re one of these people, know you are not alone! We’re on a big a rollercoaster ride that’s coming to an end. All this chaos is ultimately leading each of us toward our own personal light. The end of this year is really about letting go of anything that’s holding you back and stepping into new experiences that let your inner being shine through.
While the holidays may be a stressful time, especially if you’ve been slugging through the muck of personal transformation, they are also a very opportunistic time to experience love, gratitude and light. Take this season of long winter nights to ask yourself how and where can you create more light in your life? What does it feel like to be full of light? To let light illuminate your road forward? And what is it that generates that light in your personal life?
Journal about what truly lights you up and brings you joy. See what little daily or weekly practices you can start, during this season of merry-making, to add a little light to you life. It can be as simple as remembering to give one stranger a smile every day. Take some time to consider all that you are grateful for. Practicing feeling grateful for something everyday creates a vibration that starts to attract love and positive energy into you life.
The energy we are stepping into is not just of a new year, but also of a new era! It’s time to celebrate and honor old traditions while starting new ones of your own. Don’t wait till January 1 to start anew. Do it now, with the holidays upon us! Use the momentum of the astrological shift to start something new in your life right this moment. Try creating a new holiday tradition that brings merriment to yourself and those around you. Maybe you’re working on self-love? Get yourself a tiny gift for each of the twelve days leading up to Christmas. Maybe you’ve always wanted to sing? Put together a night of caroling with friends. Maybe you feel alone? Volunteer at a soup kitchen. Do something new, outrageous and full of love for yourself and others and watch the magical opportunities flow into your life. Get your creative juices flowing because next year is going to be a whole new world!
