25 Ways to Get Back in Control

Regain Your Composure and Control

We have all had moments and experiences that made us feel out of control. Regaining one’s composure can be challenging, but it is totally possible to master in any situation. You just have to find what works for you! Personally, when disaster struck, I would get that deer-in-the-headlights syndrome where I went blank and felt helpless. In order to get back in control of my life I learned I had to do any of the following, depending on the situation: take a deep breath to calm down, visualize what I want, speak up from the heart and make a to-do list. Here are 25 other options that may suit your needs:

1. Take a deep breath several times. Do this as you try to clear your mind.

2. Put a whiteboard or chalkboard up on the wall and then map out your personal plan for gaining back control.

3. Post inspirational quotes at home and at work.

4. Make a “to-do” list of what you seek to accomplish, big and small.

5. Consult a therapist, psychic or adviser before making any huge decisions.

6. Do not freak out! Stay calm, process what has happened and then make a reliable plan to get your life back on track.

7. Talk to friends and family members to get their feedback and support. You do not have to do this alone.

8. Treat yourself well: get a massage, facial, manicure, acupuncture or makeover.

9. Read self-help books such as Stephen R. Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People: Powerful Lessons in Personal Change.

10. Keep a journal of times that you were able to regain your composure and get back in control. Review these times of strength in your life.

11. Try not to lose it in the first place. Teach yourself how to maintain control no matter what happens. This will help you lead a much more fulfilling life.

12. Realize that you cannot control everything! However, you can manage how you react to things that happen. If it’s time to forge a new path, talk with Colin ext. 5902 to see your next steps ahead.

13. Be an optimist.

14. Think of setbacks and obstacles as opportunities to learn and grow.

15. Go for a walk, jog or run.

16. Meditate in a quiet space.

17. Visualize what you want to happen and/or make a “vision board.”

18. Go after what you want! It’s time to realize your dreams. Get a career or life path reading from Elvina ext. 5900 and start the next part of your life

19. Splash cold water on your face and wake up. Muster energy however you can.

20. Pray.

21. Read stories and/or ask other people about how they regained control during a similar predicament.

22. Do your research. Go to a library and/or go online to investigate case studies, policies, procedures or whatever else will comfort you and give you back control. Knowledge is power!

23. Decide exactly what you desire, and then make a step-by-step plan to get it.

24. Do one thing at a time, one day at a time. Don’t overwhelm yourself by trying to do too much at once.

25. Be realistic. For example, give yourself time to grieve before moving on from a loss. Do not expect to regain full composure immediately. Regaining control takes time.

Even though all these ideas are quite different, they all have a common thread which is that YOU decide how to regain control and composure. Control and composure don’t come naturally to us. Rather, we must take action to deal with obstacles, drama, heartache, mistakes, et cetera. Moreover, the fact that you CHOOSE to put forth an effort to regain control shows that you are determined, diligent and driven to succeed. Be proud of every step you take toward actualizing your dreams. Get unblocked and back in touch with your goals during a reading with Freya ext. 5787.
