DreamCast: The Death Card

First, because I think this is related… While awake and waiting for a TV baseball game to begin, a commercial about funerals was on which showed a graveyard with a white headstone. The first name on the headstone happened to be my son’s name. That night, I dreamt of waiting to talk to a “fortune teller” of some kind (I believe in their ability).

In the dream, I pressed a button and a larger-than-life image of the Death card of the tarot appeared. It was an image of a skull illustrated with colors, but still, the Death card. Then the dream switched to my best friend’s soon-to-be ex-husband, who was buttoning his shirt. I’m in a car and he sees me and gives me a huge hug and won’t let go. He is crying. In waking life, I’m not emotionally close to him and think he’s stalling the divorce to keep from paying her anything. I am working two part-time jobs, wanting to move away from one and into another. I’m due for my annual review in one of them – in the other I work as a freelance artist, which is moving slowly for me due to time constraints.

Dear Xena,

Your dream is about endings, as symbolized by the intriguing image of the Death card as well as your friend’s divorce. And yes, it was probably triggered by the funeral commercial, but that doesn’t mean it’s insignificant. Far from it! I think because the card was so unusual, it also represents your work as a freelance artist. The fact that the dream showed your friend’s ex clinging to you probably represents something you’re clinging to that you need to let go of before you can fulfill your dream of working full-time as an artist. And because the issue with the ex was about money, I’ll bet it’s the fear of no resources that keeps you from manifesting enough work to leave your other job. If you can overcome this fear by realizing the Universe supports your prosperity, then you’ll attract opportunities to share your artistic talent – and get paid for it.

Sweet dreams,
Cortney
