The Golden Globes: Movies, Magic and Myth

Who Will Win With the Foreign Press?

With the myth, magic and spectacle of the holiday season having passed, it seems sometimes there is nothing to look forward to in January but the bills and the extra pounds. But we are saved again by our modern-day magic and spectacle-makers in Hollywood with the January 15 Golden Globe Awards.

Astrology and filmmaking have much in common, as they both speak a creative and mysterious cross-cultural language of ancient myth and modern technology—the language of the human unconscious. So let’s see if astrology’s sky stories align with the stories being honored at the Golden Globes.

One thing appears to be certain, the comments of host Ricky Gervais will be a major “buzz” during and after the show. His comic irreverence toward everything—Hollywood included—makes him the perfect presenter to ground the glitz of the Golden Globes. Ricky will be even more innovative and rebellious this year with Uranus squaring his natal Sun/Mercury in Cancer—just the edge needed to balance the world of glamour.

January 15 has a star and planetary alignments with a focus on the intense, delightful beams of Venus blessing Neptune as they both enter Pisces. This event can be viewed as a bit of a microcosm of how the Neptune in Pisces era, lasting from 2011 to 2025, will look. Filmmaking, music and mystical teachings are expressed through Neptune and Pisces, and the combination will help balance our challenging times and keep us inspired.

“Astrology brings so much to the table, it gives you the personality, likes and dislikes of a person. Their nature is uncovered and if it is not a match for you, it can be worked around to make it work.” – Psychic Quinn ext. 5484

The nominee presenting a fine balance of enchantment and whimsy in an innovative manner is Martin Scorsese with Hugo. Mr. Scorsese’s chart indicates that he has reached a whole new sense of fulfillment in his work and this satisfaction may well be shared with the voters for Best Drama or Best Director.

Competitor War Horse reflects the heliacal setting star Capella—in the Charioteer/horse constellation—symbolizing speed, flight, freedom and feminine independence. The Help, with its theme of freedom in both racial and gender issues, also has this energy, and as an aside, Best Actress nominee from The Help, Viola Davis, is the daughter of a horse trainer.

Michel Hazanavicius’s The Artist is the favorite for Best Comedy. However, Woody Allen’s chart does look excellent, so there could be an upset from Midnight in Paris. The star of 50/50, Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s chart, shows a great evening at the Golden Globes, too. Will he get best actor in a comedy, perhaps?

Neptune in Pisces also represents compassion. The “social consciousness” approach to films that has been so popular lately will be at least as strong this year. While this isn’t surprising in these politically active times, it will give a boost to Angelina Jolie’s debut as director with In the Land of Blood and Honey.

“Neptune represents the spiritual octave of love. It is very mystical, and extremely emotional.” – Psychic Phillip ext. 9485

Best Actress in a Comedy has a star-studded field including Michelle Williams, Charlize Theron and Kate Winslet, but the star chart that looks the strongest is Jodie Foster’s for Carnage. Best Actor in a Drama is a tough call as Leo Di Caprio, George Clooney and Brad Pitt all have really outstanding transits on the 15th. We definitely need one of our psychics to call that one!

With Venus’s prominence on Golden Globes evening, there will be special focus on great new female talent. Rooney Mara of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo has a chart that looks great for the evening, yet both Meryl Streep’s and Glenn Close’s are excellent as well. In any case Rooney will have a great future in film, and has already joined the Hollywood artists promoting good causes, as she is from a family of philanthropists and has her own charity Faces of Kibera helping orphans in Nairobi.

Another powerful Venus figure comes from television and music. Zooey Deschanel’s chart is so tied to the enchantment of the evening that she will somehow play the Venus role at the event. She may wow the red carpet looking particularly enchanting or perhaps she’ll knock us out with a song?
