What is Faith?

Faith Faith is a belief in things unseen. All things are possible if one has faith. Jesus said that if we had faith the size of a mustard seed, we could move mountains. I do not believe that he meant that statement to be a metaphor.

There is a story of a French journalist who witnessed a demonstration in Tibet. I recall it was in the late 1800’s or early 1900’s. He watched as lines of Buddhist priests formed, playing horns and beating drums. Many were chanting. The lines of priests were all pointed at a specific place at the foot of a mountain. As he watched the scene, huge boulders began to rise off the ground and moved to specific locations. Jesus’ admonition manifested.

I also remember a passage from the Bible when Jesus healed somebody. The person was thanking him and Jesus said, “Your faith has saved you.” There is an anecdotal story that circulates throughout the hypnosis community about a terminal cancer patient who was given an experimental drug that was touted as a miracle cure for cancer. He was one of the test subjects. He responded immediately and went into remission. But, before he even left the hospital, he stumbled into a newspaper article that suggested that the drug was not as effective as previously hoped. His cancer began to grow again. The doctor picked up immediately on his patient’s suggestibility, and one day in desperation, he entered the man’s room with a syringe of a newer experimental cancer cure. He created for the patient a whole explanation of the drug’s benefits and research results. He injected the drug and within days his patient’s cancer went into complete remission. This time he actually left the hospital, apparently cured. The drug was saline. The patient eventually did die of cancer, but that occurred much later.

Today, the American Medical Association admits that 50% of all allopathic treatments, medications, even surgeries, involve the placebo effect. It all comes down to the power of the mind. Doubt and faith are mutually exclusive. One is either pregnant or not pregnant. One has faith or one does not have faith. Every psychic on this board has faith in their skills or they would be rendered ineffective. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. So here is the image. I gave this picture once to a close friend, as a goodbye gift. The picture was of a woman doing a swan dive off the edge of a mountain top. In the picture she was already airborne, committed. Below her one could see only clouds. The script below the scene was FAITH. Dive deep!

Gina Rose: Agree with you, this is a great article by Phillip.

Your comment “patience is a companion to faith” jarred (from way down deep) a saying that I read somewhere years ago. Cannot recall the source, but the saying was, “Patience is Your attitude while You’re waiting.”

So, thanks to Phillip for the article, and to you, Gina Rose, for the reminder.

Faith is a Gift of God, and faith in the redeemer is essential to salvatin.
    (John 3:15-16,18)
Faith is what gets me through my everyday life. No matter what it is, as long as I keep MY faith open and clear, it helps me know my believe is for a wonderful reason and has purpose.
    Thank you!

I thank you very much for this article, I truly needed it and it touched were I needed to be. I don’t feel that my faith is very strong and yes I ask God daily to bestow upon me the faith and patience that I so feel I will need to finish this journey.

    Hi Gina Rose,
Oh, yes! Patience IS a companion to faith. If one truly BELIEVES, then one needs the patience, and to trust that it’s all going to work out.
    Hugs & more,

I agree with you, Miss Krystal. I love knowing that I always have a Divine presence in my life. I grew up in a religious household, but now that I’m older (and hopefully wiser), I’ve embraced a more spiritual approach to God. I like my “one on one” and cherish the moments I can really feel that Love filling my heart.
And remembering to thank the Big Guy for EVERYTHING is truly good for the soul. It puts you in a higher vibration, and that can only bring more of the good life into your life.
    Hugs to you,
    Fran

Faith is not something we obtain on our own. Faith is given to us by grace from God. When I went to church, everyone told me that I didn’t have enough faith. But like I said, I learned that faith is given to us. We can’t have faith on our own because it is too hard to believe in something that we have never seen or felt.

Thank you so much for this article.
I would not be the person I am without my faith.
I grew up in a very Godly household. I have prayed for world peace, good things for friends, family and clients. I pray several times a day.
I believe in the Eternal. I know that I am never alone. I am a believer! I feel it every moment of the day and in night, in my heart and in soul. I thank God for every morning that I wake up, as life is a gift. Everyday
    Blessings,
    Miss Krystal

    Hi Phillip,
Yes…..TRUE faith is believing in the unseen.
BUT…..patience is a companion to faith. We live in a society of instant gratification… where many apply a timeline to their faith. Faith knows only patience.
    Great article Phillip !!!!!
    Blessed Be )O(……..Gina Rose ext.9500
