In Memoriam: Patrick Swayze

Patrick swayzeAfter more than a year of publicly battling pancreatic cancer, actor Patrick Swayze has passed on.

The fiery dance extraordinaire was star of such hits as Dirty Dancing, Point Break and Ghost. Swayze’s mother ran a dance studio in his native Houston, Texas, and after a stint as Prince Charming in Disney on Parade and as Danny Zuco in the original Broadway production of Grease, Swayze began working in film.

Diagnosed last year with pancreatic cancer, an interesting placement of Mars Square Pluto might explain his optimism throughout his grave battle – this placement gave him a tremendous amount of will power to pursue his dreams passionately and relentlessly. He had been working steadily on the television show The Beast since his diagnosis.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Lisa Niemi, whom he met at his mother’s dance studio. RIP Patrick!

He will be missed. What a truly spiritual, charismatic person. He seemed so unaffected by his fame and stardom. He and his wife seemed to be very in touch with their spirituality. His memory will live on.

Haha To Wong Fu is great.
We had a Dirty Dancing vigil last night. I don’t think our neighbors like us very much because when Michael Jackson died we had an MJ dance party and then last night you could hear us singing I Had the Time of My Life down the street.
    It was worth it.

Oh yeah……how could I possibly forget To Wong Foo, Thanks for everything …..
Those 3 guys, altogether, were fabulous in that movie…..and VERY convincing at playing drag queens….not to mention that all 3 looked gorgeous dressed up as women !!!!
I own the movie….maybe I’ll watch it on my b-day…
Thanks Fran ,for jogging my memory.

I will never forget the first time I saw Patrick Swayze dance his way into my heart in “Dirty Dancing.” He exuded such charm and sensuality that I was forever smitten.
When he starred in “Ghost” I was again amazed, this time by his sensitivity. How I cried during that film…..
But if the truth be told, my favorite Swayze film was “To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar.” What a masterpiece of comedy! Brilliant! As Veda Boheme, Patrick’s sensitive side was again evident, but his sense of humor just knocked me out of my seat. I love that movie. And I loved Patrick Swayze.
Heaven is smiling, and the Angels are dancing…. rest in peace, Patrick.

Thanks Joseph for this mini-tribute. He was one of a kind….That is for sure.
He truly had courage. I am glad he had a successful marriage, and did not get “lost” out there like some celebs do with fame. He will be missed!
And I so agree, he looked just like a lion! His eyes showed so much pride, but with a certain respect. Patrick had depth. Bless his soul.
    Sincerely,
    Miss Krystal

My favorite movie was Point Break…..the last 10 minutes of that movie is my favorite part when he rides out to catch & surf the 50 year wave. Keanu Reeves and him were excellent in that movie together.
