Red Responds: She’s Never Been by Herself for This Long

Dear Red,

It’s been about 20 months since I went through a really bad breakup, and I have not met one single person who interests me to the point where I would want to make a connection. I have never been by myself for this long. I do enjoy the independence being single allows me, but I would like to share my life again with someone. I sometimes think its not in the stars for me, and that would be okay, but I would like to know whether I will ever meet a companion again. It seems like everywhere I go, I keep looking around to see if he is there, and he never is.

Thanks for your help.

Dear Christine,

Love isn’t always in the stars that are softly twinkling in the night. For some people, it’s more like an unexpected meteor shower that happens to be raining down when they accidentally look up. That seems to be what is going to happen for you.

I know that the loneliness sometimes creeps its way into your world, and as empty as that can be, some of us need to experience it from time to time. However, it definitely isn’t going to be a way of life for you. It seems like this is a transitional period that you are going through and unfortunately, must endure for a little while yet.

The turn of the year is going to bring with it a fellow here and there who doesn’t repulse you, but also doesn’t make your heart skip a beat either. You’ll have some dates, but no real connections until the Fall of 2007.

Yep, this time next year, it seems like it’s literally going to be raining interesting and intriguing men. You will essentially go from one extreme to the other; for your next real dilemma is going to be who to choose.

There are two men who are really standing out, and they couldn’t be more opposite of each other. One has dark hair, the other light; one is more of a corporate professional while the other seems to be more skilled with his hands; and both of these guys seem to be really awesome guys. But it is when man No. 3 comes into the equation that things get really interesting.

It’s going to be a difficult time for you, but on a whole new level. You just may find yourself longing for that independence you had before the love parade. When the dust settles, you are far from alone. I don’t know with whom you choose to proceed, but you are walking away hand in hand.

Brightest Blessings,
Red
