Red Responds: She Wants to Move to the Country

Hi Red,

I read your responses all the time. I truly need your advice. We currently have our home up for sale as both my husband and I want to move. We are surrounded with neighbors and want to move into the country. I have been out of work for 2 years due to work related injury. I am now currently employed at a job I do not like. These people are greedy and only care about themselves. Two other employees recently quit due to the same reason. My shoulder injury seems to be recurring as I’m putting a lot of stress on it at the job. My husband tries consoling me but I’m so frustrated as our house has not sold and I don’t like my job. What do you see in the short term for us?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Melody

Dear Melody,

All the frustration in the world is not going to create or expedite the changes you desire. It is only going to create more stress for you and the people around you. I’m not telling you not to experience your feelings of frustration; but I am suggesting you cease allowing yourself to become so consumed by them.

Regarding your home, it is going to be a little while yet before it sells, but it will sell. Interest in your house is going to start to pick up in the month of June, and you will have your buyer before the end of the summer.

A paycheck is a paycheck, and that about sums up your current job. Fortunately, this is something within your power to change. Pound the pavement and put out the resumes. There are opportunities just around the corner for you. While it may not be what you would consider ideal, I see you taking a position that is primarily social and clerical. I see you behind a desk and talking with different people. Before you groan, understand that the environment is the complete opposite of what you are dealing with now. While you may not “love” your new job, you definitely won’t hate it. Also, it will be much less stressful on you; both physically and emotionally.

Your concerns with job and home are going to work out just fine. It’s your emotional balance that concerns me. Depression is easy to slip into, and hard to climb out of. Don’t overlook the blessings that you have, and you have many. One of the biggest blessings is your husband. If you want spiral into darkness because things aren’t going the way you want them to, you have that option. But, don’t drag him down into the pit with you.

Sometimes, attitude really is everything…

Brightest Blessings,
