Take a Time Out to Handle Your Stress

Take a 10-Minute Break From Stress

There are many things in life that will cause us to feel stressed. Sometimes, it’s not what we do, but rather it’s what is done to us. The most common things that cause stress are finances, relationships, work and children, and it’s extremely important to find the time to be still, even if it’s only for 10 minutes each day. It may not seem like a lot of time, but it does a lot of good. If you can take 10 minutes out of your busy day to just be still, you will live a happier life and you will feel the peace within yourself.

Many of us are not in tune with being still. We must find that place within us and around us that enables us to clear everything out except nature. I prefer being outdoors, in the middle of trees, birds, and even insects. Nature, almost like an orchestra, holds it’s own rhythm. There may be some background thunder in the distance, birds singing, leaves rustling from a gentle wind, and many other things that in and of itself are not quiet, yet they do us so much good. I find nature calming and relaxing, so spending time in it is my way of being still. However, if that’s not possible for you, you can find other ways to get your 10 minutes in. Find a place at home or at work and go there daily to just be still. At home, it can be a shower or a backyard. At work it could be an empty office or conference room.

Listen to Your Inner Voice 

When we are constantly surrounded by the human voice (coworkers, significant others, children, the television, etc.) we find it hard to hear our own inner voice. That’s because we are paying attention to everything else. As an empath, I take on all the energy of other people and things around me. So in the beginning, it was very difficult to focus on what was really important to me. I was always anxious. I had to take action, so I learned to control my abilities and take my 10 minutes of quiet time to be still.

A Stressed-Out Mom 

I get a lot of calls from people who are stressed. One call in particular has stayed with me during my time with California Psychics. A woman called and told me that she was stressed because she was always home with her family. She couldn’t even use the bathroom alone! I told her that when she needed a break she should go to the bathroom and turn the water on so it seemed like she was busy in there. She asked, “Did you not hear what I just said?” I did hear her, even with her dogs barking and her children yelling in the background.

“Me Time” Isn’t the End of the World 

When she hung up, she went to the bathroom and did just what I told her. She called me back the next day to let me know that she did exactly what I told her and it was incredibly freeing. Her kids were still screaming outside the bathroom door and the dog was still barking, but she couldn’t hear them as much with the water running. She had stolen 10 minutes for herself. She said, “I had an awakening in there.” She realized she could take 10 minutes for herself and her kids wouldn’t be damaged as a result of her “me time.” It wasn’t the end of the world! 10 minutes felt so good that she started taking 15 minutes each day for herself, no matter what, and she said it makes a huge impact on her whole day. She has to get out of bed before the rest of her family wakes up in the morning, but it’s totally worth it.

Change Your Life 

Stress is contagious, just like kindness. Stress can cause illness or just plain unhappiness. If you take just a few minutes a day for some quiet time, I know you will notice a change in your attitude, your family’s attitude and your overall peace.
