Love Doesn’t Just Happen to You
For many, February is all about love. With Valentine’s Day coming up, you may be looking for new love. It can be challenging. That’s because love isn’t something that just falls out of the sky and into your lap—it doesn’t just happen to you. You have to be an active participant in creating it. Are you doing your part? 1. Love Yourself, Including Your Flaws
When you love yourself and are confident, you attract the right people to you. You don’t have to be perfect or live the perfect life to find the love that’s perfect for you. But if you need healing, you can start the process while you’re looking for love. And be sure to love yourself in the process.
2. Let Go of Guilt to Learn From Your Mistakes
So what if you’ve made mistakes in the past. We all have! Guilt creates feelings of unworthiness and shame. Do you feel like you have to continue to “pay” for the mistakes you’ve made in the past? You don’t! Past experiences (good and bad) are filled with lessons to be learned. How can you take those lessons, turn them into blessings and grow if you’re consumed by guilt and regret? You can’t! But if you can turn a negative experience into a positive one, you’ll feel empowered.
3. Review Your Dating Resume
Take an inventory of yourself. What are your best qualities and what do you have to offer to a potential partner? Now make a list of what you’re looking for in a partner? Do your best qualities match your future mate’s best qualities? Make sure you are someone you’d want to date and fall in love with.
4. Make Yourself Feel Special and Pretty
When you’re in a relationship, do you spend a lot of time on yourself? Do you wear nice lingerie, get your hair and nails done and dress up? Does all that go to the wayside when you’re single? It shouldn’t! You don’t need to look good for someone else. It’s more important that you look good for yourself. When you look good, you feel good about yourself and that self-confidence attracts love.
5. Know How Other People See You
You may not be aware of how you come across to others. Are you negative? Do you complain a lot—even about little things? Do you dump your disappointments and negative experiences on anyone who’ll listen? Don’t make others feel sorry for you. You’re not a charity case, and no one wants a charity case for a life partner! Instead, reframe your experiences and put a positive spin on them. Focus on the lessons you’ve learned or how the experiences made you a stronger person.
Love is Waiting
If you do the work, love will be waiting for you. And the harder you work on yourself, the greater the love you’ll find.
