Your January Forecast

Two major transits – Saturn turning retrograde and Jupiter entering Pisces – can create some significant shifts in your life. From January 13-May 29, retrograde Saturn will prompt you to rethink your attitudes and actions pertaining to commitment, work, duty and security. It can also make you backtrack over old projects and issues concerning those areas, so prepare to complete some stuff you’ve been procrastinating about.

After a yearlong transit through Aquarius, Jupiter will be transiting through Pisces from January 17 through the rest of the year, except for a jaunt into Aries from June 5-September 7. This beneficial influence can bring luck to all things Piscean, including spiritual pursuits, philanthropy and projects to improve our water sources. Not surprising, it will be especially beneficial to Water signs Cancer, Scorpio and, of course, Pisces.

One troublesome influence to watch out for is the Saturn-Pluto square, from January 31-February 9. This is basically a battle between the status quo (security) and the new regime (change). Those of you with planetary placements in an early degree of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn will likely experience this influence in some part of your life well into February and beyond. On the bright side, it can help you make some leaps in your personal growth by eliminating blocks that stand in the way of your progress.

Transit tales
Early in the month, conjunctions involving the sun, Mercury and Venus in Capricorn energize business dealings and any activity with a conservative vibe, especially for Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn. These influences support projects and relationships that you’re committed to. Saturn moving retrograde from Jan. 13-May 29, however, can create some backtracking over plans and projects, especially those pertaining to your job and/or security.

Then mid-month, the Sun and Venus entering innovative Aquarius energize socializing, group activities, science and technology.

Planets in motion
In contrast to Saturn turning retrograde, Mercury turns direct on the 15th. After three weeks of messing up communications, especially those pertaining to work, the planet of talk turning direct will help discussions and agreements move forward.

Mars in Leo continues its retrograde travels (through March 9), which can hinder the launch of new projects and relationships, but is favorable for revamping those areas of your life where your energy and passion are focused.

Lunar magic
The New Moon eclipse in Capricorn on the 14th brings a new cycle of energy to activities that support your work, finances and security. The eclipse energy is a bit unpredictable, however, so expect to make some changes to your plans.

The Full Moon in Leo on the 29th connects with Mars, which accelerates romance, creativity, socializing and activities involving entertainment.
