Kiss Your Way Into 2017

Dating is hard work. We don’t say yes to everyone who asks us out and everyone we ask doesn’t say yes to us. So when it comes to one of the biggest date nights of the year, New Year’s Eve, it would be nice to increase our chances of sharing a kiss at midnight. While I can’t guarantee you’ll get a date, I can help you increase your chances.

Start With a Small Request

Asking someone out for New Year’s Eve is a pretty big request. If you’re going to get dressed up, spend time and money, you should make sure they’re worth it. So before you ask them to be your New Year’s Eve date, ask them to be your coffee date, or dinner date, etc. If your date goes well, they’ll be more agreeable to spending New Year’s Eve with you. You just need to give them the confidence, comfort and security they need to commit to something bigger.

Find Your Commonality

You’re more likely to get a date if the person you ask shares something in common with you. So when you think of who to ask, think about a coworker, someone from your fitness class, church or even your grocery store. You want to find someone who shares a connection to a place, belief or experience with you.

Make a Good First Impression

You have limited time, since New Year’s Eve isn’t too far away, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be methodical in how you approach your date. You want to make a good impression, so make sure you’re looking put together and smelling great. Make sure you know what you’re going to say, rehearse it several times. Speechlessness, nervousness and awkwardness aren’t cute, and you only have their attention for a few minutes, so make your point in an interesting and charming way. If you can’t captivate them for a few minutes, how will you captivate them for a few hours?

Don’t Come On too Strong

People like to know where they stand, so telling someone you like them is one way to do that. However, you don’t want to come on too strong, because they need to decide if they like you too. Speak in low tones, respect their boundaries and personal space and don’t turn up your intensity unless they’ve given you permission to do so. And even then, don’t go whole hog! Save a little bit of that energy and excitement for New Year’s Eve!

Entice Them With Incentives

No one is expecting you to to dangle wads of cash over their head or pick them up in a limousine, but if there is a great new restaurant in town, or an amazing music venue they’ve been wanting to check out, you could tempt them by offering to escort them there.
