Does Karma Exist?

“Does karma exist? How does it work? And if karma is real, and ‘god’ exists, why am I being punished?” I don’t think I can count how often I have been asked that, and how often I would ask myself the very same question.

I’m not an expert, nor am I some kind of minister or religious scholar. I am, however, pretty good at observing people and situations. Over the years I simply came up with my own conclusions of how “karma” or “god” works. So before I continue, I want to make it clear that these are my opinions, view points and truths.

I finally started seeing that most of the sadness and disappointment in my life was brought on by my own choices. Based on who I am, I tended to attract certain individuals. It’s very similar to animal instincts. Just like a wolf recognizes others from his pack, so I would recognize those who would continue to fulfill my expectations of disappointment and betrayal. I would seek out people with very specific behavioral patterns, even though I knew on some level that it would end in heartbreak and disaster. I was raised to never say “no,” and to think of my own needs and wants as unimportant and unworthy. Actually, it rather astonishes me how keen my senses were when it came to selecting people who were toxic for me on numerous occasions.

Some of the things I’ve experienced were not my fault. Especially things I’ve endured when I was a child. Children are generally innocent. It isn’t their fault when they are being abused, molested, abandoned or mistreated. No god came down to punish them, and they sure as hell are not experiencing bad karma from a life they lived a few hundred years ago. To suggest such a thing is not only ridiculous to me, but a crime.

The damaging thing of most religions is the guilt that is being put on us. We are eager to take responsibility for things that simply were not our fault, and things we had absolutely no control over. When my mother died I was 19. Given who she was at times, I had often wished her dead. Naturally, after she died I felt responsible. Almost every single person I know, who has lost someone to death, felt in some way responsible. Maybe we didn’t love them enough? Maybe we should have done something, even though we don’t know what that could have been. We get angry at “god” and karma; because why would a god with so much power and love for us allow us to suffer so?

Well, I’m not going to argue if god does or does not exist. But we keep forgetting free will, and free will accounts for a lot of stuff. My mother chose to live the way she did. She chose to eat crappy food, to not really take care of her health, to not go to the doctor until it was too late, because sometimes being sick afforded her the only type of power in her life. And so her list of diseases and issues kept growing. My best friend’s mother smoked at least a pack a day, and so did my brother-in-law. While we always hoped for the best, it wasn’t a shocker that both ended up with lung cancer. Sadly, my friend’s mom died. Luckily my brother-in-law survived and, apparently, is doing fine. I don’t think one was more “loved by god,” or had better karma than the other!

Sometimes, for whatever reason, there is just bad luck. Sometimes good things happen to good people, and tools get away with murder. The reason that we are so affected by the bad things happening to good people is that these are often big things; like losing a parent, child or other family member. One of those experiences can scar us for life, and often make up for 10 betrayals or crappy relationships. I believe that in 99% of cases, a person isn’t to blame when they lose a loved one. Sadly, I also don’t believe that “god works in mysterious ways,” and that ”he” loves one person more than another.

I think the reason that many don’t look at life and situations this way is simple. There is, or at least for me there was, a certain hopelessness in knowing that my life is up to me, and that I have to take responsibility for each and every word and action. It’s also not particularly inspiring to know that, no matter how “good” I am, bad things still might and will happen to me. All I can do and have control over is how I treat myself and others. Finally, just imagine what it would do to someone if they could truly grasp the full repercussions of their actions, without a higher power forgiving them, or making it all better. How sucky would it be if all the religious extremists did not have their god to blame anymore for their appalling actions, discrimination and bigotry? Take god away, and a lot of righteous folks turn into crazy, mean-spirited bullies.

I believe in cause and effect. I believe that being dishonest, mean, rude, selfish and unkind, or otherwise a tool will backfire eventually. Not because you got punished, but because sooner or later you’ll have to pay the price for your own choices. It’s not karma or god; it’s simply life, cause and effect, nature or law of the fittest. Understanding how my choices affect my quality of life and getting away from the victim mentality at least no longer makes me feel like someone who is unloved by a higher power, or punished by something I am not even aware of. Interestingly enough, I still believe in “something.” I am just no longer expecting this power to shape the outcome of my life.

    Dear Jitendra Kumar Arora,

I went back and read your post yet again…….

You truly summed up, in a short but powerful paragraph, what I experienced and learned from crossing over twice……and what I’ve learned from my Guides.

And also…..what my Great-Aunt taught me many years ago when she was tutoring me.

    Dear Indogodance,

PS…..And I’m not being hard on you or judging you in any way, as I understand your pain …..I’m simply saying that you gave & gave & gave to both of these men ……now it’s time to give back to yourself…..invest some of that love, energy, and compassion back into YOU.
Take back your power, take control over your own life, break the current Karmic pattern by creating a new Karmic pattern.
We all have the power at our disposal……it’s alot of hard work, time and patience…but…aren’t you worth it ?????

I wish you health, peace and much happiness….

Hi Gina and Jacqueline – I know part of the transition was my man friend and the experiance I am going through with him – is to show me the difference and how bad a situation I am in with my husband. I got lost in the dogmire of other peoples issues, no one had any time for me – I even lost me myself !!

Stuck in transition is very true – but at the moment at a loss to work out the next step. I dont want my marriage any more – I will be quite happy on my own – but need to find the path way to it (age and income is not on my side).

(I am not looking for replacement husband, but some comfort would have been nice – forgotton what its like !!! but then never had it..) My man friend and I will not come together – not unless some serious big change in circumstances were instigated.

Much of the article reflected my own feelings over the years – I always feel I must have done something wrong to be so lonely and used. I have never looked to others to fill my own expectations – but the betrayal is always there… I even convinced myself I here as some form of punishment.

But when I still my mind and look around at the beauty of nature, especially as we enter the fall – this fills me with more pleasure than any material posession I dont really need.

Karma really is about cause and effect, it is our path to do the best we can. We just need a helping hand at times – send out as much love as we can to each other.

Karmic intervention – well we all know there is much in this universe we dont understand, but what ever happens to each of us – the lesson is still left behind for the others to learn, even when were long gone…

    Love to all, Carole xxx

    Dear Indigodance,

Jacqueline is correct, you are in transition……but I would say you are currently ” stuck ” in transition….

…. I suggest you make a plan and stick to it to set yourself free from a loveless marriage ( IF, IF all attempts to save the marriage have failed )……….work on yourself and your own inner happiness, first, before you seek the affection of another.

    Hi indigodance,

Carole, It saddens me that you are going through so much, just remember that you are in transition, your energy has shifted and so everything around you needs to shift to match yours, remember this too shall pass, soon you will see that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

    Hi Gina Rose!

I TOTALLY relate to your writers block but for me its with things I study. A few examples…went to school to get my Esthetician license but once I got it, never wanted to do it ever again….got my Travel Agent license, once i got it, never wanted to do it again and same thing with my license to be a Notary….once I got it, never wanted to Notarize anything ever again. It’s like I get SO burned out on the one subject that I’m “over it”. What would my block be called?? ‘Overload On Any One Subject Block’?? Ha Ha

I sure wish you’d get over your writers block and finish your articles on crossing over 🙂 I would love to read of your near death experiences!!!!! You’ve mentioned your article off & on for a few years maybe after the New Year you could finish it ?? But, I totally get it, if you just aren’t into it!!

    And Verbena,
I have a peculiar type of ” writer’s block “…..you know, I could flood this blog with articles if I could just force myself to start writing again…..I’ve been in this field for 45 years now….and have trained psychics for 29 years……

….but my block is that I wrote extensively in the 80’s & 90’s articles on psychic developement and the para normal ( that were published )……but once I write an article on something….I’m DONE with it forever.
    ( weird huh ? )

I don’t know if it’s because I put such a great amount of effort into the writing, research and editing of my articles to make them Virgo-perfect…..OR… it is because I’m bored with re-writing on that topic again (?). ( I know it’s weird ).

    Any thoughts ???? Anybody ?????

Part of the reason is because of my eye sight…but not all of it.

Anyway…I’m adding on to on line hours for readings starting Nov.1st…. and hope to start writing articles by the end of the year…..as I do more readings in fall & winter…… and have more motivation, hopefully to write again as well.

I asked him about the file cabinet and he uses the top locking part to store his gun ammo and the bottom part to store his fish hooks and lures……go figure. LOL !!!!! Sean is an X Navy seal who likes to shoot at a gun range and loves to fish…..he is as pleased as punch to be able to use the file cabinet as a storage cabinet.

    Hi Verbena,
( waving big hello) !!!! Yes, you qualify to join the Virgo club…..

…My brother Sean, who lived with me for 17 long months while he was obtaining a bachelors degree was the sloppiest Virgo I ever met, extremely social butterfly, loves networking with people, very high IQ….. but he is a pack rat , with little notes and paperwork scattered all over his place.

I honestly don’t know how he finds anything or how he can find his bills to even pay them.
But his mess is organized ” in his head “, he can remember what was written on which crumpled up note and which scattered pile he tossed it into when he needs it.

After he obtained his degree, I was relieved when he secured a great job and moved out, because I was ready to file his paperwork and him with it…..LOL LOL !

Karma’s do exist and we only have control over our actions and not on our destiny.Sometimes its shocking when good people continue to suffer and there are two thoughts to it .Either what we are facing is a result of past life Karmas or the people responsible for our suffering will have to repay it in future. The basic truth is despite all odds good people remain good and die good whether suceessful or not . We can only control our karmas and not anyone elses but our lives our definitely affected by the actions of the others. We will however be rewarded for our own karmas and not anyone elses. Our intentions behind our actions define the real nature of ones karma. One cannot lead a idle life without performing any karma. Its as good as being dead. As for God existing i quote “poems are made by fools like me but only God can make a tree” -Joys Climer.

OMG! I look away from this thread for a couple of days since my last post and come back to find it’s exploded!! Just catching up now…but not CLEANING up (the explosion, that is.) I’m sitting here ROTFLMAO about all the house cleaning and neat-freak comments…if you look in the dictionary under “clutter” you’ll find pictures of every room in my house. Ashamed to admit it, too tired to pick it all up. Verbena, maybe you could put me in touch with your cleaning lady. (Does she offer sandblasting services?) I’m like you, I prefer the sociable aspects of my Virgo life….I chat with the dust bunnies instead of shooing them out. I blame it on the fact that I’m an August Virgo (so I’m sure some Leo influences poke in there somewhere) with Moon, Venus and Jupiter all in Libra. And all of you ladies rock, I have SO enjoyed this thread!

Another Virgo Sun and Moon in Gemini in the 12th. I have gone through several beliefs trying to sort mine out and have come the conclusion in a Universal Law of cause and effect but also in a higher power which gives me faith and hope in a brighter future for us all if we live to love each other and do as we would be done by. I love all the articles and it is great to hear other Virgos comment. I am also a neat freak and like things in their place.

I am near to tears sitting here reading this…. I am Leo, with Scorp Moon and Scorp Rising – by Venus is in Virgo….

I have terrible issues at the moment with both Virgo men in my life – one dosnt want me (one I am married to) one cant have me ( man friend).

The comment on mirror I know much about – why is my life so crap. I am ultimate kindness to everyone so I am told (really, I cant always see it). But kind enough to know when to step back when I see thier lessons in front of me (I am very empathic)…. but for me – the mirror is definatly cracked !! and the way I am going, I will be too.

I know its only my Strong Scorp and Leo energies that are keeping me going.

Jai said it all for me – I have noticed several times how intune with his words I am.

I do belive in cause and effect – I do think Karma has been hijacked by silly celebs etc.. and blown up to be used as material attachement – which it certainly is not – cause and effect is a process of action (action causes reaction) laws of nature.

If anything I come close to, to follow the path/journey – I always look to the laws of nature – many have forgotton how to look – many, many dont even know how to look any more.

I cry out of pure exhaustion – at the greed mentality at the selfish excuses.

The one person I really do not try to betray is myself – but according to many around me – by doing this I am betraying them as I wont follow their path of greed and lust.

The comparison he made between the very wealthy and very poor, on the topic of materialism and happiness, was extremely interesting…..

@believer and Gina Rose: HA! Check again! I am a Hermit (and like it), I like pretty things, my place has to be clean and tidy, I love earthy smells like Cinnamon, Pumpkin and Patchouli. I also love nag champa incense and most of the candles in my house are spicy, like apple spice or pumpkin. Of course, there is nothing better than the smell of baked goods, but I don’t bake.

I have a fountain in my backyard and winchimes. I love plants and I am pretty good in gardening, even though I no longer do it, due to my allergies. I am very sensitive to smells, so I can’t stand walking into any place that doesn’t smell good. 😀

    Hi Kiara Prasad,
Interesting that you mentioned that we attract bad luck, actually when it seems like we are having bad luck, my experience is that we need to become in balance, its like tripping all the time, bumping your leg or arm, this can be because we are disconnected from the true energies our spirit is used to, once we become in the same allienment then, we will stop all the little bumps.

When we appear to be having bad luck within career, relationship, its actually a message from your guides, the creator, god thats its time for change, time to move on to bigger and better life.

We can have all of this knowledge-We can know all of the laws in the spiritual world, examine philosophical thought, but, let’s not rule out what is really in our hearts….Karma does not miss the heart…
How we handle discourse, personal attacks and opposition, also has impact. Two wrongs do not make a right. Having a scorp moon, I have had to learn the luxury of having silence sometimes…Don’t forget what is in a person’s heart….Don’t rule it out…It’s big folks…really…God and the Universe knows what is truly in our hearts-so when you do forgive, makes sure to really wish the best for that person who violated you-And never forget to work on cleansing your own heart, and I mean in the spiritual sense….Amen

I require my surroundings to be neat & orderly, I can actually THINK clearer. But, I also like things to look pretty and have a nice flow of energy. I love candles, water fountains, incense/aromatherapy, wind chimes, plants, luscious smells baking in the oven, flowers throughout the house, etc, etc. Oh….to be a classic Virgo!

    I agree with Jai Krishna…..

These patterns do not have to keep repeating…..but it is up to the individual soul entity , thru hard work, perseverance, and a little bit of faith to change these patterns.
And they can, we all can.

Which is why I try empower my clients to take back control over their lives, because when they do, they are also taking control over their destiny.

I agree with what Ms. Jacqueline has said,

“These Karmic experiences do not have to arise again and again, nor linger on and on, once you become real in tune with yourself, the mechanics of you, looking at the reasons of what have made you tic, your involvement in bringing forth certain issues into your life, look at them change what-ever needs to change within yourself you will soon find that circumstances, friends, colleges will change too.”

Life is a finite experience. We enter into this world with no material possessions but we do accrue and accumulate the reactions, consequences and rewards of our actions. People have a strong tendency to chase after, work for and Lord over the rewards of their actions. They say this is My Wealth, My fancy car, my wife etc etc. The truth is they came into this world as tiny butt naked babies, the world, nature, life, someone, something or circumstances rewarded them the fruits of their actions that they desired for. These fruits and rewards never belonged to them, to conceive the false notion that it does is what bad Karma is all about. Because the desire, the false pride and false sense of ownership will prolong and persist after death. They conceive the idea that they can own and Lord over something, they are worried in anguish until they have that desire or the fruit in their hands and certainly once they get it with great difficulty they are relieved in pride of possessing and lording over what they began to covet. And some get greedy and long for more and more. Some prepare their senses in Lust for things they can covet before they get it their hands. And some engage in resentment, hate and anger for all that they have been denied. They sometimes get their desires fulfilled and most often they don’t. And when they don’t if they are devoid of certain spiritually enabling qualities such as love they will descend and succumb to the freely accessible energies and emotions like hate. Guilt is a good thing because it is an indication that you have used your free will to violate what is natural to your soul. This is usually not a one person event. This is an interaction like shaking hands and everybody else is certainly involved. You get caught and entwined, even let’s say for a person giving advice whether good or bad your soul and its Karmic reactions are getting entwined with your friend or Client’s Karmic reactions. Recognize it as it happens because your soul will have to live with it until the Karmic bonds come undone.

Karmic bonds vastly apply to soul mates as a collective entity and don’t mistake the eternal bonds of marriage between their souls as anything else.

For those who realize the soul within, they can comprehend to a certain extent that Karma is a sense illusory and powerfully entangling web, even though the spiritual energies involved are lower and weaker…they are surely effective and all that is needed. It weaves its illusions of rewards in this material realm, this is its dominion, its energies are real, people succumb to it and chase after the fruits rather than achieve liberation from it, or anything else other than what is worthwhile of the time and opportunity presented as a gift to them during this lifetime. If you desire the fruits. You might soon start to hate or complain and long for it when it is denied. This is how desire turns into hate. It happens to all living things regardless of gender, race, age, religion, spiritually inclinations, type of life or time or place of birth. These are the natures of the material realm to which Life in all its conditions is exposed to. For example a fish will not understand these words but its soul is very close to nature instinctively. It has not made sufficient Karmic progress to get to be human enough and liberate itself from the sense illusory rewards of Karma. Its soul and consciousness is still in the infantile stages of spiritual awakening.

Many of the psychics here are very well conditioned and eternal souls. They can predict the future with precision and uncover the past like items from a closet labeled and ready for use or disposal. These sharpened spiritual gifts for example are accrued from the experiences that their souls have been through during past lifetimes. And they have done well during this life time to uncover, revive and reacquaint with the consciousness that they have worked in the past. It is still accessible and available for use. Many people blindly refuse to accept such truths. The truth exists whether you believe in it or not. The best way to get to know the truth is through devotion (or to de – vote yourself or to be a devotee) to it. Understanding, tolerance and respect for the truth is what can set you or anyone on its path. Use the gifts, opportunities and resources presented to you during this life, not for your own glorification but rather to all the many facets of nature and forms of life that has provided you with them. Think of the bigger picture. The collective betterment and the harmonious way to coexist aid and achieve it.

The only watch word to keep in my mind with regards to Karma is Devotion. Devotion not to yourself interest but to whoever or whatever you consider, realize, envision or acknowledge to be the true owners of all the rewards of all your actions. Like I had Zit $$ when I was born I only expect to have Zit $$ when I leave. I know it’s not my money, it was given, it will switch hands and it will be taken. Using and earning rewards that benefit all life, the collective soul and the personal sacrifices you make to make the promise of truth a reality for all is the appropriate engagement in all things Karmic. So is the case with my body. It was that of a small boy it got big because of the food that grew from dust and one day it will surely go back to the material dust that it came from. Act renouncing the fruits of your labor, forget about prize or rewards that will never truly be yours and learn to enjoy the process instead. For it has spiritual purpose. Take the assistance of one of the psychics or spiritual masters and identify these things like they have. Forget the rewards of Karma instead dedicate and devote yourself to whatever dear truth it might be that is mysterious, intriguing and unknown to you and your soul. This Truth that calls to out to you governs over it all for sure.

Many of the psychics here have done well in eliminating doubt with their faith and focusing their attention and devotion of what they hold as their sacred Truth. They have their gifts and they surely do try their best to use it in the best way possible. This is admirable and great. At the end of the day we are all just visitors here, let’s make the stay pleasant and productive for everyone. Let’s accomplish the intentions of our visit and not be too obsessive or deluded in staying back and trying to keep what never belonged to us. It might take a lot of life times. And if you do find disciples of Jesus among Christians who seem too good to be true, and then remember that they are too good for this world, they have found the salvation of their soul in him by merely taking his name in the same faith and earnest that you and I are just as capable of.

If common sense in all five senses and extra sensory perception is your path, then have faith in nature. She won’t betray, she knew Jesus way before anyone else alive and here did.

    Hi,
My name is Gina Rose, ( as I stand up before the crowd ) and I admit to being a ” neat freak ” too.

    Clutter drives me absolutely wild!

My home is always presentable, clean and neat…..which is laughable…. since I am a hermit/recluse big time…( another Virgo trait). I clean to suit my needs and wants though…..not to impress others.

And I never leave things laying around……whether it be clothes, paperwork, or whatever. If I take it out, I also put it away.

This has been very interesting in many ways.

I have never read anything so Open and directly hitting everything I’ve thought and feel about Karma. I really like where you talked about ‘free will’!! So many don’t understand that THAT is why bad things CAN happen!

I had a dear friend & wonderful person to Everyone she came into contact with, who never hurt a fly… ever. Nice years ago her and her 12 year old son were killed in a car accident. No one understand how ‘God’ could let that happen… or worst.. some asked our paster why God ‘did it’?! God did not mean for them to die! A 19 year old teenager ran a stop sign.. after drinking. That young man was using is Free Will when he made both the decision to drink and then again, when he choose to drive.

The best funeral sermon (if there can ever be a best or even good one really) was at this friends funeral. Our paster talked about ‘why these things happen’. Saying that God did NOT let it happen, cause it or want it too happen. God gave us free will, because that is what people wanted… remember?! That it was because of both ‘free will’ and the devil he said (he is a paster after all) that caused this terribly accident. & reminded everyone that ‘free will’ caused the young man to do what he did, but that it was also ‘free will’ that put my friend and her son on that country road that night. I have viewed Life and free will very differently since them!

Great Post Again, Carmen!! I so connect with both your writting and with your heart & soul! At first, I thought it was just because we had similar childhood and beyond experiences! Now I see that you ‘moon’ is in Gemni & I am a Gemni… one who is a true to every description I have ever read! LOL

Blessings & Big Hug to you!
    Love ya,

@Verbena: It is true. I am so glad for my Scorp rising, I think I’d be the most boring person without it. The Scorp’s passion keeps me on any path I set my mind to, even though the Gemini moon makes me restless and sometimes means that I get bored very often, especially with ignorant and close minded people.

The Scorp also allows me to kick some serious butt, if someone tries to harm those I care about. And the Virgo comes in and makes sure that I don’t go overboard. It’s not always fun being me, but it sure as hell doesn’t get boring, haha.

NO WAY! I have a Shark steam cleaner. It’s the best thing in the world and not harmful to my kitties and dogs. It comes with attachments, too!

Someone gave me for a house-warming gift a Swiffer once. I was in heaven. I can spend hours in the cleaning supply aisles at Target 🙁

Oh dear, this conversation has terribly derailed. I should blog about cleaning supplies and methods. That would be a good one for me. My karma consists of having a clean home, haha.

Uhm, my moon is in Gemini. 😀

Well, Miss Krystal, I call it my OCD. Not only do I seem to always clean something, but no, I sort things by height too! For added pleasure, I immediately run upstairs after the maids have been there, making sure that all labels are turned to the front. And one always has to wipe the sink after one is done using it, because water spots are my enemy….so is being unpunctual…oh dear!
Therapist says “as long as your obessive compulsions are not hurting you or others, keep doing them!” YAY!

I also have a roll of paper towels and disinfectant wipes in my desk 🙁 Sadly, I could add on and on to this list. But, in case I ever end up in the hospital after an accident, my underwear is always clean and the “emergency crew” can go into my house without having a minor heart attack or thinking me a filthy pig. You also never know when people show up unexpectedly and need a tour of the home, ack!

My mother taught me these things, including the term “Saustall,” for dirty places. *steps of the soap box and hides*

    Hi,
I’m a Virgo sun sign…..with a grand trine in water …. my natal Saturn is in Scorpio in 5th house, and my Moon is in Pisces in the 8th house of Scorpio, Cancer is rising……much water in my chart….. LOL , LOL

LOL……we Virgos have that tendsency,… to strip off all of the ” fluff ” and get right to the core of virtually anything. Scorpio has the same trait.

It was odd though, that the Virgos with Scorpio in their charts responded to this.

What can I say….great minds think alike & great charts act alike….he he he ( sorry, I couldn’t resist that one)

    Hi Carmen,
Great article, love your writing. With my experience, we are here on the planet to learn, grow, have experiences, remember one cannot stay stagnant or it will die, sure, experiences will not always be pleasant, but there is such a larger picture to everything that we can see, everything that we do…. does come back, everything, positive and negative.

These Karmic experiences does not have to arise again and again, nor linger on and on, once you become real in tune with yourself, the mechanics of you, looking at the reasons of what have made you tic, your involvement in bringing forth certain issues into your life, look at them change what-ever needs to change with in yourself you will soon find that circumstances, friends, colleges will change too.

Remember the mirror effect, you mirror everything around you, everything, someone once said to me, have you gotten the mirror and I kept thinking the mirror whats up with the mirror so of course I would stare at the mirror for a while, didn’t get it, then finally a light bulb came on and realized the we are the mirror, everything around us is us, the positive and the negative….

    Blessings and Big Hugs!

Ha, and it’s interesting that the one who wrote the article, namely yours truly here, is also a Virgo 😀

Yes, my higher power is something that inspires me and teaches me to be a better person. It inspires me to take responsibility for my own actions and yes, I do believe that there is some kind of judgment when one dies and that it is based on how we conducted ourselves and who we were to others.

I was baptized protestant (because in Germany you are either Catholic or Protestant), I practiced ceremonial magick for a while, I’ve read many Wiccan books, books from Buddhists, Thelemites, Golden Dawn people, most secret societies and different practices. I have “interviewed” anyone who is different than me, which includes Mormons, Born Again Christians, Jehova’s Witnesses and Scientologists. With the exception of latter, I draw from all I have learned and never chose one single path.

My mom used to call me “Kleine Hexe” (little witch) and I have collected witches since I was a little girl. My entire house is full of witches and Egyptian gods. Somehow I am drawn to both and have been for as long as I can remember. I just don’t claim to be anything, besides being me 🙂

I certainly don’t believe that one religion or path is better than another. As the Dalai Lama said “many paths lead to god.”

Wow!!! Carmen, I couldn’t agree with you more! Thank you for putting into such an excellently-worded and presented article a lot of the things that I have been thinking and suspecting for a very long time! It’s been a long journey for me to reach the stage that I am currently at, but I am finally accepting that many of the viewpoints and beliefs with which I was raised just ain’t workin’, and I’ve reached the same conclusions you have presented here. Sometimes I still find myself slipping back into old thought patterns and having knee-jerk reactions to circumstances, but the next time I find it happening, I will be sure to go back and re-read what you’ve written.

    Hi,
Carmen you wrote a very thought provoking article …..( as always )….and it made sense.

So I’ll share a few more of my personal thoughts ….

I was raised by my Great-Aunt and my GrandParents…..all of whom went thru the great depression….they didn’t whine and cry about baggage or misfortune, they were grateful for what they had and continually worked & strived to build a better life for themselves and their children, myself included.

Everybody, over the age of 4 yrs of age, I think it’s safe to say, has “”” baggage”””,….some more than others. Baggage is life. Life happens. Life sometimes is like a poker game, you play the hand you’re dealt to the best of your ability, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, but the longer you stay in the game and play, usually the better you get.
I was taught that when you fall down, you pick yourself up , dust yourself off and try again…..my GrandFather taught me this literally teaching me to ride a horse ( LOL ).

As far religion goes…. yes I’m Hereditary Wiccan and follow the Universal Law of Karma, but I also went to a Catholic grade school and High school and was baptized and confirmed Catholic before I went back to my Wiccan roots and heritage going back over 10 generations. My Great Aunt left my choice of religion up to me.

I’m not a huge fan of any religion because I’ve met many, in every/any religion, who do NOT walk the talk.
I think there should be one universal common sense rule, which is: Treat others the way you would want to be treated yourself….period. The world would be a better place….religion or no religion.

Religion is only the ” vehicle of choice ” to The Source….some folks drive a cadillac, some a honda…..whatever works best for that individual. I tell my students, if your religion makes you a better person, keep it….if not, then feel free to search for another ” vehicle”.

When I died and crossed over, ( twice), I remember that I saw no specific religion on the other side…..your life is reviewed based on what you gave back to others and how you walked your own spiritual path…..not upon what religion or church you belonged to.

And with that……I have to go carve some pumpkins for the kiddies this weekend……have a happy and safe Halloween, or as we Wiccans say , have a Merry Samhain, everybody.

    Blessed Be )O(

Carmen, you’ve done it again! What a great post!

I agree with you on so many levels. I agree that many religions use “guilt” as a form of control over people. It’s sad that so many individuals buy into it. I believe in a higher power (god) but I believe he/she is kind & loving (guilt free). I also agree that we bring alot of our problems onto ourselves by the choices we make as “adults”. And, children have no control they are forced to take life as it comes….they know no difference.

One of the many valuable things I have learned from Gina Rose is that life is all about “lessons”….plain & simple. We are here to learn & grow.

We are lucky to have such wonderful writers (such as yourself) posting thought provoking articles to help make sense of this crazy journey we call “life”. 🙂

    Thank you!!

    Sending love to ALL!

    Hi Carmen,

Another great article……Universal Law, or Karmic Law, IS cause and effect. But we create our path, minute to minute, by the choices we make…..we are, in effect, blazing our own Karmic Path as we go forth in our daily life.
