New Year’s is a time to reflect upon the previous year and a time to make some changes to improve your quality of life. Many people make New Year’s resolutions and find it hard to keep to them. We are only human, and keeping to any of these top ten New Year’s resolutions may require a lot of time and effort. Here are the most common top ten New Year’s resolutions to consider this year. It’s never too late to change, so make your list now!

1. Educate Yourself

Many people decide they would like to learn something new when the New Year approaches. Whether it is taking a cooking or pottery class or experiencing the thrill of rock climbing; a new hobby is a fabulous idea for self-growth.

2. Organizing Your Life

The New Year is the perfect time to look over your cluttered life and start to clean it up. Organize your files, your time with loved ones and plan out how you want the New Year to look. Write down goals and projects you might want to get involved with.

3. Lose Weight

If you need to lose some excess weight you might have gained after gobbling up all those holiday treats, set a work out plan for the New Year. This is probably one of the most common New Year’s resolutions out there and one of the hardest to commit to.

4. Put a Stop to Smoking

Smoking is dangerous for your health and what better time than the New Year to stop. Start of the New Year smoke-free. This can be highly difficult but there are many sources of hope, support and help out there.

5. Spend More Quality Time

If you have been caught up with work and projects over the past year and have neglected friends or family, start the New Year off in a new light. Plan to spend some solid time with the kids, visit your parents and hang out with your siblings more often. Family and friends are much more important than making the almighty dollar.

6. Quit Drinking

If you tend to indulge in alcoholic beverages and find that they are causing more problems than relief, it may be time to look at your habit. Gradually taper yourself off alcohol and make a conscious decision to stop all together. There are numerous sources of support and help to stop drinking. It is possible.

7. Give More

Volunteer, donate to a charitable cause or surprise your family with a holiday. Do something that allows you to give without any expectation of a return. Give from your heart.

8. Save Money, Ditch the Debts

Open another bank account and put away a little of your paycheck each month. Over time it will grow and you will be able to free yourself from frustrating debts. Pay off those credit cards and give yourself a chance to start saving some money for a rainy day.

9. Fly the Open Skies

Many people decide that they will travel more in the New Year. If you only got away for a short road trip last year, plan a big trip this year and plan for it. Save money and start booking your exotic trip to Fiji, scuba diving excursion in Cozumel or your trek across the outback in Australia.

10. Put a HALT to Extra Stress

Take time to meditate, do yoga or anything that brings you stress relief. Life is way too short to sit around and stress about the small stuff. Take a big breath, relax and go have some fun in the great outdoors. Enjoy life to the fullest.
