Live Outside of the Box!

11351628-800x533Imagine, if you are able, a life without fear. Everything is perfect, safe. There are no risks and no worries. What would you do with the rest of your life? Any ideas? People often say, “I would travel,” or “I would help others.” Mostly people say, “I don’t know.” Happiness and peace seem so far away that they mostly never even consider what that might look like. Their identification with their story, their pain, is so strong, so all encompassing, that it never even crosses their minds. Thought always precedes action. So how can we truly embrace our happiness if we can not see through our filters, our lenses of pain?

When we focus our attention on one object, whether it be a person, place or thing, we are externalizing our happiness, placing the responsibility outside ourselves. This creates a lifelong habit of living in reaction. Like a cork on the ocean of experience and emotion, tossed around endlessly, until we are so weary of fruitless endeavor and wasted time, we feel like giving up. In desperation, we become prey to anyone or anything that promises to ameliorate our pain.

The truth is that nobody will ever take better care of you than you demand. No one will take better care of you than you take care of yourself. You set the standard by which others will take you seriously.

There is no one out there willing to sign on to play parent to anyone’s wounded child for long. We all carry a wounded child within us. Much, if not most of our relationship conflict revolves around inner wounded child responses to adult situations. Ultimately, it is our responsibility to send that child away. We must fill that empty place within our heart, with our self.

The heart is considered to be the nexus of our energetic system – three Chakras below, three above. From this position, if one can stay there, everything becomes possible. But remember, the Chakra just below the heart is connected to the adrenals and has a Martian connection. In Greek mythology Aries’ chariot was drawn by two horses named Deimos and Phobos, which translates to FEAR and PANIC. This is why the idea persists, “One is either loving or fearing,” and yes, they are mutually exclusive. Love or fear – choose.

Consider now whether you carry fear or love. If you answer both, what you are calling love is something else. It is for you to know, to discover precisely what it truly is. It is a small jump in perspective to get to your heart, but it can not be accomplished from behind a wall of fear. The reason the heart Chakra is always connected with health is because all healing begins with love, which begins with a love of self. Love of self – the real HEART of the matter. It all begins precisely there. Be there NOW. There IS no other way. Time is precious and that is a very real consideration. Wouldn’t you agree?

You are so right, Living & Learning! Sometimes all we need to do is say it out loud and it’s like the big “Aha!” bulb goes off and we get it. Well said.

    Hi Fran,
    Okay now you’re Rocky!
    Flying is fun!
Just keep saying that over and over again….and Tahiti will come 🙂
Hope all is well in the houseguest department, lol…if it gets rough, just take a deep breath and center yourself (note: you may have to do this more than once, lol), then the next thing you know, you’ll be on vacation!

Ooh, a far away island…I’ve always wanted to go to Tahiti. Hopefully some day, but one of the fears I need to overcome is my fear of flying. UGH!! Hate it! Guess that’s why I never did get those wings! LOL!
I’m working on facing my fears, but it’s challenging work. It’s nice to know that I have all of you here in my corner. I feel like the Italian Stallion!!
    Talk to you soon.

I would love to connect with you again. You have such a great “feel” about you!
I wish I had the courage of a lioness. I could really use some right now.
It’s a crazy week for me with company visiting, and then we’re leaving for a week on Thursday, so I’ll try to check in the blog before I go. Hopefully we’ll get a chance to chat soon. I’d really like that. (I think the last time we spoke was towards the end of winter/early spring).
    Blessings to you,

    Dear Fran,
You are very sweet to say and what a wonderful story you share, you must be a Lioness of God for Ariel! I do believe that animals bring us messages. When I have an unusual experience with an animal, I always look up the different meanings for that particular one. There seems to be a very accurate message in all encounters. I myself am not very knowledgeable about animal totems and shape shifting, but I do know of their power. It would also be a great blog topic I think. I’d love to hear other animal stories and meanings! Do you have any others?
Wishing you a wonderfilled weekend Fran!
Thanks for sharing your story 🙂

    Dear Joyce,
That panther could sense what a beautiful soul you are! I really believe that animals can tell what a person is like on the inside.
When I was 9 years old, my favorite book (and Disney movie) was Charlie the Lonesome Cougar. I was just amazed that anyone could have a relationship with a wild big cat…and I wanted one, too!
Last year, I kept having dreams about lions. Mostly lionesses. In one particular dream, I was sitting at a picnic table, and the setting looked like the savannah. A lioness came right up to me and snuggled with me, similar to the way your panther did with you. She looked at me with beautiful, soulful eyes that were brimming with love. A few days later, I was going through one of my angel card oracle decks, and I kept getting a card entitled “Courage.” The Archangel associated with that card is Ariel, whose name means “lioness of God.” The accompanying book states that if you notice images of lions or lionesses, that means that Ariel is with you to boost your confidence and give you courage.
Once I put two and two together, I stopped having those dreams. But I’ll never forget them, or the message I received.
    Blessings to you,
    Fran

    Hi Fran 🙂
Yes! Isn’t she beautiful? She is actually a Florida Panther. I was visiting a SW Florida Wildlife Refuge with a dear friend who was county commissioner at the time. The refuge was looking for funding.
When we were passing her enclosure, she came over to me and growled, lol…the director of the facility, who was a very cool American Indian medicine man said, she’s not growling, she’s purring…she really likes you, do you wanna go inside?
I was blown away…I can go in with her? YES, I wanna for sure! So, I went in and she came right over to me. She put her head on my chest and neck and started rubbing herself all over me, purring (which really does kinda sound like growling, lol).
So I have to say I did become kinda scared, and she was unbelievably strong. You can even see in the pic that my hands are actually trying to pull her away cause she was rubbing so hard, I was gonna fall off the chair!
It was one of those amazing life experiences that you never forget. I was just really lucky someone had a camera that day 🙂

Hi Phillip, Once again thank you for sharing your great talent, you have such a grace for putting thoughts into words….
I agree with letting go of “Fear”, fear is such an illusion it doesn’t exist, but only in our thoughts and mind, almost a learned behavior….
    Love counteracts “ALL” fears….
I read once…. What would you accomplish if fear did not exist?

    Hello Phillip.
    Greetings also, Gina Rose.
Excellent article Phillip, echo’s some of the things you told me in our reading on Monday, 7/20. I just wanted to thank you for flipping the light on for me. I get it now, what you and Gina Rose have been telling me. I’ve got to get back to being me, getting grounded and stable again. I need to stop tormenting myself and trust. And so I have. I’m more at peace now. I haven’t been physically ill over this issue since we talked on Monday. I’m feeling stronger, but of course I am still feeling. I wish I didn’t some times, but I still cry every day. I still love and miss my man very, very much. But I am not chasing him, Gina Rose. No contact at all just like you and Phillip both said. I’m not cringing every time I see a truck like his go by. I’m not staring at my phone anymore. And I actually have thoughts about other things than him. Phillip, you’re right, I need to trust this Karma, the universe knows what I need and when it will come about. I just need to fix what’s broken in me. That would be my heart, but it’ll be okay I think. Gina Rose, you and Phillip both gave me the same approximate time line. Interesting, I thought. And you both mentioned the same strong Karmic link. (32 points?) So I think me getting back to me will help a lot when my life with my man comes back around. And I am confident now, thanks to you two, that it will. I can’t thank you two wonderful, wonderful people enough for putting my worry to rest. I was really dying inside. I am better now. And I will certainly call you both when this “thing” comes around.
Much love, peace and blessings to you both.

    Hi, Phillip,
Once again you give us the incredible food for thought that takes some time to digest and absorb. It has taken a lot of thought on my part to come up with only a small morsel myself.
It would be nice to live a life without any fear, but I think a small measure of it helps one lead a more thoughtful life. It just depends on how one chooses to react to fear that makes all the difference. Fear of something can cause different reactions in different people, but there are really only two possibilities: overcome it or let it overcome you. However, the consequences (good or bad) of what we choose can be endless.
When I talked to you, the most important thing you told me was to set my fears aside. The things I have been afraid of had kept me locked in the same situation, but only because I had allowed them to overcome me. But I’ve changed my mind. I don’t want to be consumed by my fears, stuck in an unhappy situation because I’m afraid of the uncertainty that lies outside of that situation. I am slowly overcoming my fear of the unknown and steadily making my way in a new direction. (Yes, I’m a Taurus!)
On the other side of my unhappy situation is a person who has let fear consume him almost completely. He does nothing to overcome it. Instead he has made himself completely dependent upon others for everything. In assuming no responsibility, he avoids having to take the blame (or so he thinks). It is much easier to blame everyone else for his own shortcomings, mistakes, thoughtlessness, etc. His reaction to fear is not to overcome it, but rather to destroy what he is afraid of. He tries to tear down everyone and everything, but the fear never goes away.
I’ve finally figured out that his greatest fear is that I would outgrow him and our relationship, which I have. But instead of allowing me the room to grow outside of my life with him and continue to grow on his own, he has tried his hardest to confine me to what he thinks I should be. And now neither of us is happy. I’m not who he wants me to be and I can’t be anyone other than who I am.
The box I am in has grown so small. I tried for so long to bend and fold myself up tightly so that I would still fit. It has been miserably uncomfortable. But finally I’ve outgrown it and the walls are coming down. I feel like I can take deeper breaths. I’m finding more room to grow. I can open my heart to let more of myself and others in. It feels good.
Thanks again, Phillip, for getting to the heart of the matter.
    Cheers,
    Lise 🙂

Phillip this is a wonderful article full of spiritual knowledge and insight. So true to stop focusing attention and looking for happiness in other people or things, but instead take charge of our own lives, decisions and happiness. Every one of our conversations during readings has been life altering. Speaking with you, learning from you, your talent for encouragement, empathy, wisdom and insight, are counted among my most treasured gifts in my life. You have assisted me so many times in acceleration of spiritual growth and knowledge. Your words, and the familiar sound of your voice, have been priceless during these past 4 years of uncertainty. You may remember me as Gail 0421 PA Hypnotherapy NLP…just spoke with you again today around 5:30 PM. Blessing to you for being a grounded beacon of Light during these troubled times we all face.

This is my first time on the blog but certainly not my first time reading your insight Phillip! Thank you so much for your inspiration. It really speaks to the heart of matters. It reminds me of the movie (yes, I am a crazy movie buff…) “As Good as It Gets” where Holly Hunter’s character plays a single mother who’s child is always sick. When he begins to get better, she has no idea how to handle the transition into a life with no frenzied feeling of immediate danger. I too, have been through this transition and even doing what I do and knowing what I know, you can get caught up in the daily drama. It is as if we wear it like a cloak and when the cloak comes off we are blinded by the light of peace. Comfort becomes alien to us. I truly believe that Spirit very simply deals with two emotions love and fear, where one exists the other cannot. I am blessed to have to opportunity to wake up every morning and choose, I just have to stay focused on which is the right one to choose. Thanks for reminding me to choose love.
    Heartfelt Blessings,

Phillip, you have a beautiful gift. Thank you for sharing it with us.
You gave me a lot to think about. I know that fear has been with me throughout my life, and while that makes it hard to make decisions, in the end I was always able to overcome the fear to some extent.
I had a job working with people that I truly admired and became friends with, but I disliked the JOB. I always wanted to find a more fun, exciting job (I worked in NYC) in the entertainment field, but I was AFRAID to leave my comfort zone. But I overcame that by becoming very good at what I did, and gaining the respect and admiration of those I worked with.
Now I’ve reached a point in my life where I need to make another decision, and to be honest with you, I’m terrified. But I know that I’m a strong person, and that I will make the right decision when the time is right. I will trust my inner knowing. I WILL overcome my fear…even if it takes a little while longer.
Thanks for allowing me to share a little bit of me with you. 🙂

I agree, yes. It’s also important to have your own relationship with yourself where you do not let people influence what is in your heart.
Actually, I have seen a lot of people “miss the boat” because they listened to other people over their own inner voice. Usually, there will be a little voice inside of our self that will tell us not to do something.
Thank you very much. I enjoyed this article. A very good reality check for sure..
