Those of us who love gemstones find wearing them to be a comfort on many levels. Not only do these lovely stones look beautiful, but their resonance brings a level of knowing comfort that can be extremely grounding. To follow up on my previous posts, For the Love of Gemstones, and Benefits of Gemstones, today we look at how to wear them in order to maximize their potential.
Your left side is the receiving side, which gains information from outside your aura. By wearing certain gemstones on the left, you can help control the effects of the environment on you. The right side of your body is the productive, active side. Wearing gemstones there can directly influence actions and outcomes.
With this knowledge, let’s look at wearing rings on the fingers. Thumbs want to be free, in order to help to do your will. Therefore, it’s a good idea to keep this finger ring-free. The pointer finger influences communication, desires, and dreams. Carnelian is great for this purpose. The left pointer influences incoming communications and desires — when worn on the left pointer finger, Sodalite and Chrysocolla help to calm and relax.
The middle finger is the intuitive and inspirational finger. Wear rings such as Amethyst or Crystals, which inspire intuition. The fourth, or traditional ring finger, is the creative one. The left fourth finger brings creativity and inspiration inward. The tradition of wearing engagement and wedding rings here is not an accident, for this sends vibrations straight to the heart.
The little finger is for change and opportunity. Wear suitable stones on the right hand to influence change such as Aventurine – this is great for bringing new opportunities your way. On the left, wear stones that will aid in accepting changes, such as Turquoise, which will aid in calming nervous energy.
As for bracelets, it’s best to wear gems that protect, on the wrist. Stones such as Turquoise, Coral or Shells help to release body stresses. Many people cannot wear quartz wristwatches because they react adversely to their body’s rhythms.
Gemstones worn on the upper body will affect personality. It is best to wear stones that help build self-esteem, like pearls. Good stones to wear as earrings are Tiger’s Eyes or Jade. Sapphires and Garnet are also great for upper body wearing. Opals and Lapis Lazuli have high energy that should not be worn on necklaces, earrings, or hair clips — because of their high energy they can cause spaciness or dizziness.
