Turn a Disaster Into a Blessing

Is a Bad Situation a Devastation or a Blessing?

How do you respond to crisis or devastation in your life? Do you become fearful and angry? Do you get stuck and lament the injustice of fate? Do you conspire to get revenge over those who you feel have wronged you? Do you curl up in the fetal position and cry? Does depression get ahold of you? Do you shut down?

What if we simply change our thought patterns and decide that what may appear to be a setback, is really a blessing in disguise? What if these “injustices” were not at all what they appear to be? What if the devastation you feel is the only way for the tangled web to unravel so that you can walk on your intended path, once again?

Like most people, I’ve had many a web to untangle in my life. Some were conscious decisions of mine and some were not.

When I first separated from my husband I was devastated even though it was my painful decision to leave. I was fearful about how I was going to take care of myself financially, take care of my special needs child by myself with no family to support me, and cope with the loss of someone I dearly loved who I thought would be my life companion. I knew on some level I was taking a monumental leap of faith. But, for some reason, I felt this was what I was supposed to do and I followed my intuition.

It didn’t take too long to realize what a blessing our separation was. The sense of independence and freedom to create a life that is best for me has been huge! I have increased my social network, my business, as well as my consciousness and self-respect in ways I never would have imagined within the confines of my marriage. I have found myself again and I have grown into the loving, more conscious person that I am today, whom I really like. To top it all off, I have managed to keep my ex-husband as a very dear friend for life. And, because the pressure of the expectations within the marriage no longer exist, we can accept one another as we are, today, which has created a sense of freedom in our communication. We can even laugh together now. It has been a difficult process of forgiveness but it has also definitely a blessing!

So I have pondered: What is orchestrating these devastations? Is it just random? Or, are these so-called crises arranged somehow?

Personally, I believe our angels, guides and higher selves have something to do with it. I also believe we come into this life with a loosely “written” plan (known as the Akashic Records) in order to have experiences that propel our soul evolution forward. I believe, prior to our incarnation, that our soul has a purpose or an intention of something to achieve in this lifetime. Knowing that we will forget this intention, our angels and guides help to push us back to ourselves after our devastating experiences. More often than not, these setbacks are severely uncomfortable, but sometimes they are needed in order to put us back on our intended path. Hence, the unravelings are blessings.

I have learned over the years to trust my angels, guides and my own intuition. I may not like these setbacks that happen. I may stomp my feet in despair. I may go into the ugly cry. I may call psychics to help me understand what has happened. But, I have learned to trust that when things like this happen it’s out of my control and when I let go of the reins or any attempt at control, life goes much smoother. Then I come to the realization that this is happening to serve a higher purpose for my highest good.

I like to think of it as a paradigm shift when something “bad” happens. And, what I’ve learned is to trust it and, instead of staying stuck in the victim role of “Why me?” I immediately begin to question where this is leading me and why.

Did you have a miscarriage? Maybe it’s not time for that baby to be born yet. Did you lose your job? Maybe it’s time to start that business or course of study that you’ve always had a burning desire to do. Did your partner decide to go in a different direction? Maybe they’re answering to a higher calling for their own soul growth, giving you the freedom to choose your higher calling. Are you stuck in traffic and angry about it? Maybe you’re being protected from a horrible car accident. Did you miss that flight? Maybe your soulmate is waiting to meet you on the next plane.

No matter what the outward devastation is, I’m convinced there’s an opportunity for us to learn to stop holding on so tightly and to let go and to remind us that we are not always in conscious control of everything around us. When we let go it’s an opportunity to reflect and to gain and internalize new wisdom from the experience. And when we internalize that wisdom, we take that with us on our path to experience new heights of peace, harmony and understanding with the world around us.

There is a way for you to know what your angels and guides are trying to tell you when you experience a setback. That is to work on your own intuition, and you will lead a less stressful life because you will begin to see the signs before you’re slammed by disaster. Or, if you feel led to do so, get a reading with me. I can tune in to your situation and work with you by telling you what the guides have to say about your intended path.

When disaster strikes or something happens where you feel devastated and disoriented, it’s wise to begin asking yourself the following questions: “Where can I find the good in this?” “What is the universe trying to teach me here?” “How is my reaction benefitting me now?” “Why is this road now blocked, and where am I drawn to next?” Start answering these questions and you will find a blessing. Trust me.

What I know is that these setbacks are designed to help you live a happier and healthier life. It may take years for you to see the blessings in them but they are there.

If i am not mistaken foreign people know only one relationship that is of boy and girl, man and woman.they dont have any relation with their parents.this is where they go wrong.
parents are like gods and if you leave them that means you leave god.now without god
by your side ,do you imagine how your life is going to be-“miserable”.

I so agree with what you have written. There are so many situations in life that we cannot control, but the one thing we can control is how we view it. Change your view of the situation, and the situation changes. It is very important to find the positive around the situation and focus on it. I feel it’s like creating a chapter in the novel of our life. We meet the antagonists, and it is up to our free will to meet the challenge of viewing it positively and writing our own happy ending.

Isabel…you already know the answer to the questions you keep repeating…I am fresh out of an abusive relationship that didnt last long, but packed enough abuse to last several lifetimes. I stayed too long for many reasons, mostly that I was willing to sacrifice myself for this man I was trying so desperately to save. As a result I failed miserably and we both suffered for it, but it brought me where I am today. Today is also filled with chaos and misery but I know it will take me to my tomorrow, and I pray it will be better. As long as I can endure the todays, I know the tomorrow I am destined for will be there, someday. My entire life seems to be an endless string of miserable todays, but one tomorrow will be the day Ive been waiting for and it will all be worth it. Until that day comes, I will continue to hold my head high, pray I make better use of this today than I did the one before, and know that my destiny is in fact waiting for me…maybe tomorrow
