5 Times to Say (And Not Say) I Love You

The time and place are important when you say “I love you” for the first time. Don’t get it wrong, learn the top 5 times to say I love you, or not to!

And 5 Times to Say “I Love You”

From my experience, there is a right and wrong time and place to utter those three important words. So make sure the first time is appropriate, authentic, and, most of all, special. Here are several considerations to keep in mind before you take the next step forward in your relationship. Let’s start with the don’ts list.

5 Times NOT to Say “I Love You” for the First Time

1. On a First Date

Do not say “I love you” on your first, second, third, forth, or even fifth date, for that matter. Even if you do feel the love, it couldn’t hurt to wait and make sure it is, in fact, real and not just lust and the excitement of a new person in your life.

2. During Intercourse

When you’re being intimate, do not say these strong words that may potentially distract your lover from lovemaking. Though this is a great time to say “I love you,” later on it may not be the best choice in the beginning of the relationship. The person may think you were just saying “I love you” in the heat of passion or, perhaps, it may have slipped out of your mouth. Remember, once you say “I love you,” you can’t take it back (if you want to continue in a healthy relationship). Get personalized advice, contact a psychic today!

3. After a Fight

After an argument, you should focus on resolving your issues, not putting your attention on something totally different. In this case, the person might think you are saying “I love you” because you want to distract them from the real issue at hand, or it may just be an easy way to make up and appease them. Don’t give your mate a reason to doubt that you genuinely love him or her.

4. In a Hurry

When you’re in a hurry to get somewhere or do something, don’t say those words. Because you will have to leave right away, you won’t have a chance to enjoy that first time. Say it for the first time when you can hang out awhile and enjoy your propinquity afterward. Never say “I love you” for the first time and then run away. It only happens once! Savor the feeling.

5. Following an Ex

After seeing or talking about an ex, absolutely never, ever say “I love you” for the first time. Speaking from experience, this is a deal-breaker. I had been dating a guy for two years when I accompanied him to his sister’s wedding out of town. At the ceremony, he introduced me to the girl who he lost his virginity to. Needless to say, she was incredibly rude to me. That night, during sex, he said “I love you” for the first time to me. Before that, he told me that he didn’t believe in saying those words. Obviously, I never trusted his “I love you’s” after that horrible first experience. Now that the don’ts are out of the way, here comes the really good part! These are some times that saying “I love you” for the first time is highly recommended.

5 Times to Say “I Love You” for the First Time

1. After Commitment

After you’re in a committed, monogamous relationship where you agreed to be each other’s one and only, it is safe to say “I love you” without fear that the person may not reciprocate the same feelings.

2. With Significant Time

After you have been together for at least three to six months, this is enough time to get to know each other and recognize love. Of course, this also depends on how much quality time you are able to spend with each other in person and on the phone, email, and so on.

3. On a Good Day

When you’re having a good day with your significant other, make it more special by revealing your love. The first “I love you” can make any day memorable, but it’s better to choose a day that you want to remember with that person.

4. When You Feel It

Follow your heart, and go with your gut. At a certain point, just say “I love you” because that right moment may pass by unless you make it happen. Don’t wait until it’s too late. Everyone deserves to hear “I love you.” I was with a man for four years, and he never genuinely said “I love you” to me until after I broke up with him. In response, I told him “Too late. I no longer love you.” He admitted that he had loved me for a long time, but past issues prevented him from telling me. However, his un-dealt with past did not justify his lack of affection toward me.

5. After a Psychic Reading

If you really don’t know when is an appropriate time to say “I love you,” call a psychic for advice. They will have a good sense of your amorous feelings toward this person and your relationship dynamics; therefore, they can assist you in making an informed decision that will improve your relationship. A talk with a psychic may also lessen your anxiety about this next step in your relationship and even provide you with confidence.

Three simple words bring a lot of complexity. I hope my suggestions help you take that leap of faith in love, but with a safety net below. Good luck!

    Well done, Melody…..

The only little tiny thing I would add on to when TO say I love you is tip # 4 When You Feel It …..( yes, but within reason….LOL )…..say it, but don’t overdo it.
It can be annoying to hear every 5 minutes, or 30 times a day, ” I love you….do you love me ?”
