"What's it like being psychic?" I wish I had a dollar for every time I've heard those words. I could rush right out and buy a DVD! The answer is never quite what people expect. My initial response is less than eloquent, "I don't know. I don't know what it's like to
not be psychic."
I can tell you that I know things that I should have no way of knowing, I see things that other people don't, and I hear voices when there is no one else around. I lie about these things on every medical intake form I've ever filled out.
When I was a kid, I didn't realize that I was gifted. I thought everyone was like me. Like most of my life-lessons, I learned the hard way that I was different. Fortunately for me, the gift runs in both sides of my family, so I only felt like a semi-freak. I most likely could have saved myself a lot of drama growing up if I had been a little more discerning with the information I received, but I've never been known for keeping my mouth shut!
When it comes out that I am psychic, (and being in a small town, it always does) the reaction is what I find amusing. Some people think it's the coolest thing and want to know more; others smile, nod, and do their best not to take a step away from me. What never fails are the questions that are about to follow. Everybody wants a reading, has something they just need to know. I've turned more than a few skeptics into believers while in line at a grocery store.
Being a professional psychic is, in my opinion, the toughest but also the best job in the world. I joke around and say, "I exist; therefore I get paid." I wish it were that simple, but like any job, a lot of hard work goes into each day, and each call. I pull and exchange a massive amount of energy when I work. I also put a lot of pressure on myself because there is a huge difference between giving readings and giving good readings. It is a huge responsibility. There isn't a moment that goes by that I am not consciously aware that my words affect someone else's life.
I have met so many incredible people through my work, and since coming to California Psychics, I've been touched by so many more! So many people I otherwise would never have known, ever have met. So, for any of my callers out there that happen to be reading this: I want to thank you. Many of you have thanked me, credited me with helping you, but I don't think many of you truly have any idea of what you do for me.
