She shared this maxim with Brenda (not her real name), a 28-year-old who called to ask why she had zero luck when it came to men. The hotel manager from Palm Beach, Florida had gone out with two men in a span of a year who had cheated on her. She was ready for a long-term commitment and a loving union and she was wondering whether the man she had just started dating was in it for the long haul.

Three weeks later, Brenda called again. "You won't believe it, my girlfriend won a trip to Cancun and I am going with her," she said excitedly. "Now tell me about this man."

Inexperienced people get involved in situations that wiser souls would avoid. But now that Brenda was no longer operating out of fear and desperation she was to wait and allow the universe to bring her someone who truly loved her.
