After The Heartbreak

A neglected marriage goes in for repair

It was a sticky subject but Andy advised him to face his own grief and then confront his wife. This was necessary if he truly wanted to repair his marriage. Fortunately, the cards revealed a potential for healing.

Woody called back several times over the course of the next six months. He also started seeing a counselor. "He was raised with a John Wayne attitude, meaning he wasn't used to feeling his grief, yet he was filled with sorrow. Eventually, however, Andy realized that he had many unresolved issues. Deep inside he knew all along that his wife had shut him out after the miscarriage, but he had been too afraid and emotionally inept to even go there… until now.

Each time the two spoke, Woody appeared healthier and more upbeat. Slowly he sorted out his own feelings and approached his wife. Five years after their loss, they were finally having a heart to heart. Built up energy was released and they agreed to go into couple's therapy. She was surprised that he was moving out of passivity and into action mode.
