While some aspects of psychic phenomena are inexplicable by science, proof often takes on a different form - it comes after the fact. While even the most connected among us would be hard pressed to explain how these amazing psychics got their information, the following famous prophecies proved to be true. These are some of the most significant predictions throughout history, beginning in Ancient Greece, all the way up to modern times.
Inspired by Apollo
The world famous Oracle of Delphi played an influential role in ancient history for fourteen centuries, helping to determine the course of empires until Christian Rome took over in the 4th Century AD. Among the Oracle's cryptic but most notably true prophecies came when Croesus, King of Lydia consulted her about invading Persia. She told him that if he did so, he would destroy a great empire. He mistook this for a good sign, and invaded only to see his empire defeated. When he asked the Oracle why she lied, she said that she didn't, her prophecy had been fulfilled - a great empire, Lydia, had been destroyed.
Beware the Ides of March
Julius Caeser's execution on March 15, 44BC was predicted when he was warned of the Ides of March according to Plutarch.
Physician turned psychic
Through his lifetime, Nostradamus predicted dates for the great fire of London, the French Revolution, the birth of Louis Pasteur and the rise of Adolf Hitler. There is debate that he may have also predicted the Shuttle Challenger's explosion when he wrote "the nine set apart… their fate determined on departure." He is arguably the world's most famous (and most accurate) psychic, whose prophecies number in the tens of thousands and are consulted regularly throughout the world.
The poet in a cave
Mother Shipton, an English psychic who was born Ursula Southeil and lived in the 1500s, had dozens of unusually accurate predictions including The Great Plague, The Spanish Armada and the Great Fire of London. She offered her prophecies in the form of poems and wrote them from a cave where she lived in North Yorkshire.
Presidential Prophecy
In the May 13, 1956 edition of Parade Magazine, Jeanne Dixon predicted the election and subsequent assassination of President John F. Kennedy. She also predicted Richard Nixon's 1960 election to office.
