His reward was to be publicly mocked on her show \u201cThe View.\u201d Barbara Walters is now on her way to heart surgery. Van Praagh, who has stated that he feels terribly for her, has also asked for an apology.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>This unfortunate public incident highlights the misunderstandings that often dog psychics. For one, few realize that psychic information is often seen in a way that is not directly related to time as we understand it. Timelines can be hazy and non-linear. Just because Barbara Walters was given a clean bill of health two weeks after Van Praagh\u2019s prediction doesn\u2019t mean his prediction wasn\u2019t accurate. It just means he was seeing further into the future than Ms. Walters was!<\/p>\n<p>In addition, many psychics are faced with the dilemma of whether they should be bearers of bad news or not. This is a dilemma as old as recorded history. Mythology and <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.californiapsychics.com\/blog\/2009\/11\/real-psychics-in-history.html\/\"><strong>history<\/strong><\/a> are full of stories of oracles who gave bad news to kings and heroes who didn\u2019t react particularly well (ever hear the phrase \u201cDon\u2019t blame the messenger?\u201d) Similarly, many can have the wrong reaction when hearing bad news from a psychic. Instead of asking how they can change their behavior to prevent the potential bad future from manifesting, they do the least constructive thing possible: they blame the psychic, and often try to talk to new psychics until they find one who tells them what they want to hear!<\/p>\n<p>What do you think \u2013 should Van Praagh have kept quiet and kept the bad news about Barbara Walters\u2019 health to himself? Or should he have told her \u2013 was this a case of interfering with Barbara Walters\u2019 <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.californiapsychics.com\/blog\/2009\/09\/we-create-our-destiny.html\/\"><strong>destiny<\/strong><\/a>, or was it in her best interest? And how could she have reacted in a better fashion?
