We often hear, growing up, that our dreams are just that, dreams; and that we need to be practical as we plan our futures. Once middle school begins, we are told that we need to start thinking about our future, because high school is too late to start planning. So we start early, planning a future based on what makes sense rather than on what fills us with passion and what we dream about.<\/p>\n
There is always a way though, to find a balance in our lives so that we can benefit from a life that gives us stability but also allows us to follow our bliss, so to speak, if we have the courage to listen to both our heads and our hearts.<\/p>\n
This week\u2019s Daily Focus looks at inspiration to tune in to our hearts and dreams so that we can manifest a future that merges the best of all worlds!<\/p>\n
November 9<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cStart where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.\u201d <\/strong>–Arthur Ashe<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n We all have abilities, talents, and interests that are extensions of who we are. They come as easily and naturally to us as breathing, but when we are trying to plan our futures we fail to acknowledge those innate strengths, or we have a tendency to minimize them. Just as it is important for us to know how much is in our bank accounts when we go to pay our bills, it is equally as important for us to know what skills and talents we have at our disposal so that we can make the most of opportunities that present themselves and to ensure that we make choices based on our strengths. Take some time to get to know yourself, your strengths, and what fills you with passion; then take that information and plan the next steps. Today\u2019s word is Inventory.<\/p>\n November 10<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cDon\u2019t be pushed around by the fears in your mind, be led by the dreams in your heart.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n Fear can make us react without thinking first or it can completely paralyze us. This often happens when we let our brains do all the talking and we ignore what our hearts and intuition are trying to tell us. Fear is a bully! If a person were to treat us the way fear does we wouldn\u2019t tolerate it. So why do we let fear have that kind of control over us? We need to remember that ultimately we are in control of our lives and that we have the power to quiet the fearful voices that keep us trapped and allow our dreams and hearts to guide us toward lives that resonate with our true purposes. Today\u2019s word is Fearless!<\/p>\n November 11<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cVision without action is merely a dream. Action without vision just passes the time. Vision with action can change the world.\u201d <\/strong>–Joel Barker<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n Planning is a needed step into our growth, but too often we get stuck in a never-ending cycle of planning, re-vamping, re-imagining, and go round and round in circles, putting too much energy into something that doesn\u2019t bring about anything tangible. Likewise, simply doing something for the sake of having something to do will inevitably leave us feeling bored and unfulfilled. We all have the ability to merge the two and manifest the changes we wish to see in ourselves, others, and the world that we live in. How many of us have had that moment where we realized that although we are living a good life, it doesn\u2019t quite fulfill us the way that we thought it would? I\u2019ve been there! That dissatisfaction with life, or ennui sets in when our spirit\/subconscious knows that what we are doing and who we are isn\u2019t in line with what we are supposed to be doing or who we are meant to be. Sadly, many people play it safe and allow themselves to find pleasure in that sense of security; but boy does it come with one heck of a cost. Break out of your gilded cage and start living a life that is truly golden! Today\u2019s word is Passion.<\/p>\n November 13<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cThe only thing worse than starting something and failing … is not starting something.\u201d <\/strong>–Seth Godin<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n No one wants to fail, or even fall short. It can be hard on our self-esteem, and our confidence can take a blow. Embarrassment is never an enjoyable experience but is it any worse than looking back and going through the litany of \u201cI should have\u2026 I could have\u2026 I would have\u2019s\u2026.\u201d? When we are not successful at a goal we can take it as a setback and stop trying or we can learn from it, redefine things and try again. At least then when we are old and grey we can look back and know that we never stopped trying and moving forward! Whether it is flowing slowly or quickly it will happen whether we want it to or not, so why do we say that it will take too long to accomplish a dream or goal and then turn our backs on it? If time is going to pass no matter what, don\u2019t we owe it to ourselves to make the most of it? Working towards a goal or dream is one of the best ways to pass that time and once we reach the end of our journey we can look back and know that we spent that time wisely.
