My oldest child is 28, my second child is about to graduate from high school, and my third child is 10 years old. I\u2019m not happy in my life and I feel like I\u2019ve lost my way. With my youngest becoming a teenager in a few years, I\u2019m thinking about the next phase of my life. I need to do something before it’s too late! <\/i><\/p>\n I\u2019d like to go to culinary school and become a chef, but I\u2019m not sure my cooking is good enough. Is this the right path for me to pursue? Will I be able to handle it with my third child still at home? I think you speak for a lot of people when you say, \u201cI\u2019m thinking about the next phase of my life. I need to do something before it\u2019s too late.\u201d Many clients I read for each month ask me about their future and use almost the exact same words! Knowing our purpose and living our dreams is something that is important to all of us, at any time in our lives.<\/p>\n There is no question that you are going through a major transition period in your home. While your initial reaction may be to see this as a source of some anxiety, it\u2019s also a wonderful opportunity to examine your life, and ask yourself, \u201cWhat gives me a feeling of joy and what makes me happy?\u201d<\/p>\n One of the first cards in your reading is the Page of Cups. This is next to the Ace of Swords which is upside down. These cards inform me that you\u2019re ready to embark on your new journey and that opportunity awaits. However, you don\u2019t know how to move forward or which action to take, and that leaves you feeling overwhelmed\u2014the Ten of Wands. You may fear\u2014the Ace of Coins reversed\u2014that there isn\u2019t enough money or support for you to make your dream come true.<\/p>\n Lisa, you have been unhappy and you feel stuck, but I know this feeling will change almost immediately when you take action. The temptation, because you are deeply conflicted, is to wait until your 10-year-old graduates from high school in about seven or eight years. But that means more years of being unhappy, not as a parent, but as a chef. I’m sure you know the expression: How old will you be in three years if you don\u2019t follow your dream? The answer is, you’ll be the same age you\u2019ll be in three years if you do! In other words, how would you rather spend your time, and what matters most to you?<\/p>\n I am being shown that your youngest will be thrilled to see you go back to school, doing something that makes you happy. Sometimes we feel guilty that we are abandoning those we love when we choose something for ourselves. But remember that you are modeling for your child how important it is to express one\u2019s creativity\u2014to dream big like Mom!<\/p>\n You\u2019ve written, \u201cI\u2019m not sure my cooking is good enough,\u201d and my guides respond, \u201cTell her, of course, it\u2019s not good enough YET. That\u2019s why she\u2019s going to cooking school!\u201d The whole point is that you are there to learn! I can see that, despite your fears, you have a natural talent, and if you are willing to take the steps, you will be very successful\u2014maybe even one day starting your own business. My cards also reveal that lately you\u2019ve been thinking a lot about purpose, about your life, what inspires you, and every time you concentrate on cooking school, you feel an inner happiness and warmth. It\u2019s time to trust that feeling and act on it.<\/p>\n My advice to you is to begin by surrendering to the process completely. This means saying to Spirit and to yourself, \u201cI\u2019m willing to let go. I don\u2019t have all the answers but I can take action. I am ready to begin this phase of my life.\u201d And then, Lisa, take one small action. Tell someone you love and trust that you\u2019re planning to go to cooking school. Watch some videos online and begin to research the process.
