Should It Stay or Should It Go?<\/h4>\n

My question is about feng shui<\/strong><\/a> and a very large mirror, and maybe some underlying issues. I have been trying to use feng in my house over the last few years to attract some good energy. For the most part, I think it helps. Lately, I have been working on the center of my house, which is an open area containing the kitchen and living room. I put up a huge wall mural of sea and sky which I just love and I feel so wonderful when I see it. My mom and dad recently had an auction where they sold most of their stuff, and one thing that I could not let go of was a huge, gold-cornered mirror which is from the old farmstead. It is probably from the early 1900s.\u00a0I bought it thinking a big mirror like that would make a great addition to my home! I tried to prop it against the seascape, and immediately felt the energy drain (too much water?). Since then it’s been sitting facing the wall because I can’t think of what to do with it. I got to thinking about mirrors, and how they see things throughout their “lives;” some good, some bad. Maybe it saw a difficult time between my parents. Maybe it saw something at the farmstead.\u00a0I know I had an uneasy connection with the old farmstead home when I lived there as a teen. Now I am slightly uneasy about my adoption of the mirror<\/strong><\/a>. Should I sell it and just let it go? Maybe its time with my family is done. Or should I find a space in my mobile home that can be enhanced by such a large piece of water without draining the energy! Thanks for your help.<\/em><\/p>\n

I\u2019m afraid my knowledge of feng shui is extremely limited, so I strongly suggest that you check with someone who is more enlightened with this particular art. You can check with a Customer Service Representative to help you select a psychic who is educated in, or a practitioner of, feng shui. Having said that, I\u2019m more than happy to share my meager knowledge, and give you a general psychic take on your issue.<\/p>\n

I know that mirrors, and their placement, are very important in feng shui. It is my understanding that the shape and size of the mirror must also be carefully considered, for the most beneficial placement. As you are currently enhancing the energy flow in the center of your house, it feels as if placing the mirror in the east would enhance the energy flow. My understanding is that this placement relates to health and family, which ties in with the essence of the kitchen and living room. But, again, I strongly encourage you to talk to someone who has studied feng shui more extensively than I have!<\/p>\n

From a psychic perspective, I\u2019d have to say that you should continue to trust your instincts and senses. From what I can tell, you were correct in your feeling an energy drain when you placed the mirror across from your mural. Seems like the space is too small to concentrate all that water energy in one area.<\/p>\n

I also have the impression that your mirror is a little older than what you are thinking. I don\u2019t believe your parents were it\u2019s original owners, which could explain some of your conflict as to whether or not you should keep it. Psychically, it appears as if your mirror is a part of a larger mirror that was segmented and re-framed. It also has the feel of real silver\u2014a practice commercial manufacturers no longer use. So, there\u2019s definitely some history with the piece, but it seems to extend beyond your family. Who knows what your mirror may have seen in it\u2019s lifetime?<\/p>\n

If you believe that your mirror is holding memories, or has a funky energy, you can try and cleanse it if you really want to keep it. A little smudging with sage<\/strong><\/a> and letting it stay out overnight where the Earth and Moon can touch it could help, but you will have to be mindful of rain to avoid potential damage. While I don\u2019t see anything negative tied to your mirror, I\u2019m also not the one living with it. It could simply be that this mirror is just too old, big, and heavy in it\u2019s vibrations for you.<\/p>\n

The bottom line is that if you don\u2019t feel this particular piece is working with your energy and the energy of your home, you may want to consider donating it. While that won\u2019t put cash in your hand, you\u2019ll have a receipt in your pocket that you can use for a tax deduction, and your karma will be clear because you didn\u2019t profit from a piece that you think may harbor an unproductive energy. Plus, there\u2019s always joy to be found in creating a circumstance in which someone else can experience something beautiful.<\/p>\n

I wish I could have been more helpful, but this really isn\u2019t my area of expertise. Just know that whatever you decide to do, or where ever you choose to hang it, if it feels right, it\u2019s the right thing for you.<\/p>\n
