Fall in Love With Yourself<\/h4>\n

Love thy neighbor as thy self… but what if you can\u2019t love yourself? Everyday we\u2019re told that we’re not lovable, not good enough. It\u2019s an odd by-product of the media poop storm<\/a><\/strong> that bombards us with images of perfect people selling perfect products. Now how on earth will you build loving relationships<\/a><\/strong> if you don\u2019t feel the love toward yourself?<\/p>\n

My grandma used to tell me not to hide my light under a bushel basket. Yes, I knew what a bushel basket was\u2014we picked apples in the fall and put them in such a basket to make lots of pies and applesauce. But I hadn\u2019t a clue what she meant by hide my light under one. Do you know?<\/p>\n

She meant that sometimes we so lack self-confidence and self love that we make our finest points invisible. Your light is that part of you that sparkles and shines, setting you apart from others, making you a unique jewel that is you. Without self-love, it\u2019s hard to select or define those aspects of yourself. You stuff the sparkles away in the dark, under the basket.<\/p>\n

OK, get ready to change the negative messages in your mind. When you begin a new relationship\u2014say you met a hottie and want to get something going\u2014you can\u2019t fall in love if you can\u2019t communicate. Shut off the critical voices, whether they\u2019re old parenting messages, a nasty boss, or a stinker of an ex.<\/p>\n

Once you\u2019re comfortable replacing your overly critical voice, take inventory of yourself, including your personality, spiritual self, body and mind. Bring out the sparkly parts, and buff up a new glow on those items that you might want to change. But there are rules:<\/p>\n

1. The only criticism aloud is constructive criticism that helps you meet your goals.<\/p>\n

2. Mistakes are allowed. They aren\u2019t blunders or massive mess-ups, they\u2019re growth opportunities.<\/p>\n

3. You are beautiful.<\/a><\/strong> Inside and out. If there\u2019s something you\u2019d like to do differently, enjoy the chance to gently change.<\/p>\n

4. It\u2019s better to give than to receive, so give yourself all the love you deserve.<\/p>\n

5. Be kind to yourself. Speak to yourself only in the most loving tone.<\/p>\n

6. Set aside time every day to pleasure yourself in whatever way you need.<\/p>\n

If your light is hidden, it\u2019s not easy for others to be drawn to you. So Grandma was right on\u2014bring out that light, polish it up and be a beacon of love beginning with your first look in them mirror tomorrow morning.<\/p>\n
