For example, when you try to remember where you left your wallet or the remote, you might recall you last had them in the living room &#8211;&gt; which triggers something you&#8217;ve last seen on TV &#8211;&gt; which reminds you that you need whatever item you saw in that Carl&#8217;s Jr. commercial &#8211;&gt; and so on &#8230;\u00a0 As you&#8217;re heading out the door in search of that cheeseburger, you remember that your keys are on the kitchen counter, and your wallet is in the car. That&#8217;s how it works.<\/p>\n<p>So if association helps you recall misplaced items and past events &#8212; how is that your brain can recall the future?!<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->According to <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.newscientist.com\/article\/mg20627545.200-how-your-brain-remembers-the-future.html?DCMP=OTC-rss&amp;nsref=brain\"><em>The New Scientist<\/em><\/a><\/strong>, when you&#8217;re placed in familiar surroundings or predictable settings, less brain activity ensues. It&#8217;s triggered by unfamiliar stimulants and situations. This favors the view that our brains aren&#8217;t just reactive. They can base predictions\/future events on the past,\u00a0 &#8220;The brain expects to see things and really just wants to confirm it now and again,&#8221; says <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.psy.gla.ac.uk\/%7Elars\/\" target=\"nsarticle\">Lars Muckli<\/a><\/strong> (one of the scientists who conducted the study) at the University of Glasgow, UK.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently the brain saves energy by portending what it&#8217;s most likely to see.\u00a0 Circumstances \/ future events \/ unpredictable surroundings increased  brain activity in certain areas which are the seat of control in the early phases of\u00a0 processing visual information.
