What is Psychometry?

Have you ever touched an object or entered a room only to get flashes or images that somehow seemed associated with it in the past, but there was nothing happening in that present moment? Have you ever picked up a DVD or book and your mood changed to match the mood of what that DVD or book was about? Have you ever shook the hand of another individual and got a strange feeling about them or had a thought which didn’t make sense to you at the time, but found out later was connected to that individual?

These are all forms of psychometry which also usually makes use of empathy and Clairvoyance. Psychometry is “psychic touch.” It happens when we feel a vibration that is different from our own, especially as related to physical objects. Because it deals so much with other vibrations it is sometimes called vibratory.

Many police or forensic psychics work with psychometry. Anytime a psychic must hold your hand or an object that belongs to you or another person you are inquiring about, they are doing a form of psychometry.

Psychics, do any of you use psychometry? Can you tell us what it’s like?

    Hi Abigail,

Yeah….I agree , although to some people we would seem picky or eccentric(?)
( But most people think I’m eccentric anyway,….which I get a real giggle out of,…. LOL, so it doesn’t matter…LOL)

But I feel the attached energy of objects has much to do with the flow of energy and ambiance in a home….it sets up the tone and mood of the home.

For those interested in psychometry….flea markets, yard sales, pawn shops…are a great way to learn about and practice psychometry too…

…Family yard sales are the best!.. as you can validate the origin, previous owners, and history,( usually), of an article.

    Have a great weekend…

I do this with anything I bring into my home. I actually cleanse articles too. But I know exactly what you are referring to about the feel of what you bring in. I am especially careful of where I get things. Objects carry their owners energy. Growing up in a single family household with very little money my grandmother and mom would get so upset with me because I had a real adverse reactions to used clothing. If it came from family members or people I knew and loved I would wear it. If it did not I would not. At first I was accused of being spoiled but as soon as I was old enough to work in the summers I bought all of my school clothes each year myself. Being as sensitive as I am I did not want to feel other peoples stuff by wearing their energy. This was hard my family members did not understand it until later. I’m not saying that used articles are bad what I’m saying is it matters for me where they come from and I can’t wear it unless I know it must be good energy.

    Hello Jaela,
As a child I was fascinated with certain objects that my grandmother had of course at that time I though it was just my imagination about thoughts I would get about them as I held the items. I have been doing this with peoples touch for years. I shake a persons hand and I know. If I feel like I’ve been slimed well you know the rest of the story hehehe.

    Many Blessings

    Hi Jaela,
I’ve worked on cold case homicide investigations where I used psychometry….and was allowed to hold the murder weapon in my hand.
Upon holding the weapon in my hand would I see images and also feel the emotions of the suspect.

But also, I live out in the country , in an old farm house, built on old homestead land from the early 1800’s with it’s own history. My house and land was once won in a poker game, around the time of the Civil war, by an old County Judge.

….when I re-modeled this old house, I decorated it with antiques purchased from all of the pawn, antique shops and flea markets down here……
As a professional career psychic, ( this IS my day job),I’m extremely picky about the energy attached to items I bring into my home….so I used psychometry, when cruising thru all of the shops, to decide what items would go well, energy-wise, with the other items already in my house.

People who visit describe this house as cozy and warm…..because mainly, I feel, the energy of the furnishings mesh well with the energy of the house and land. ( If that makes any sense).

One of my favorite antique items with alot of happy energy attached to it is an old antique pie safe in my kitchen. A pie safe was a container where, after baking the pie you would put it in this screened or vented container to cool where nothing could get at it.

    Great article Jaela…

Hi Jaela-When I was a teenager, I used to get major vibrations from the following:
A person’s keys, watch and ring that they wear.
Later on, it did not matter. I just needed to hear your voice or look at your face. But these were my “training” wheels for psychic development.
Thanks for the very nice article.

    Hi Jaela,
Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful article. I know I have done plenty of psychometry readings before and I find it very fun and enlightening. I remember when I took my metaphysical classes and each one of us had to bring something to share but no one was able to know who brought the item in. Then we would just pick any item in the bag. Then from the there we would feel the item, tried to feel the purpose and history of the item. I also had to identify if the item belonged to a male or female and of course at the end I had to figure which of my classmates it belonged to at the end. I remember holding this ancient coin that was so neat and as I holding it in my hand, the coin was feeling really hot but it had a nice warmth to it. It felt like I was being healed through my body. I explained that this coin promoted some type of healing or the person who owned it was a healer in some way to others. I did see a grand father figure and I kept hearing medicine man from my guides and I knew exactly who they were referring to. It was Joseph which i can’t believe I actually got right. I gave him the spirit message that night. Afterwards, he would tell me that this coin belonged to his grandfather. His grandfather was a healer in a temple and he always carried that coin with him. He made the coin into a necklace so that when he was wearing the coin, it was a belief that this coin would absorb any of the negative energies that he was receiving from the person he was healing at that time. That really made so much sense, especially when I could feel my worries being lifted that night as I was holding it.

If you ever get a chance to do psychometry it is really a lot of fun. It teaches you to work with no tools and rely on your senses. It’s really a lot of fun and you can learn a lot from just doing one item.

    Love and Light,
