Need a Spiritual Vacation?

If the everyday grind has got you down, to rejuvenate you may need something substantially more than a trip to Disneyland or the local beach. It may be time to consider a spiritual vacation to cleanse body, mind and soul. Here’s a neat article about that very subject from the Associated Press.

“Frazzled Americans look to such destinations increasingly to decompress from their mile-a-minute lifestyles, redefining the concept of “spiritual travel.” State tourism gurus in Pennsylvania in recent years have produced literature promoting what they called “growing interest in spiritually based retreat destinations.”

‘Spiritual destinations’ cater to mind, body, soul

Does anyone have any tips for a spiritual destination?

I have done the cozumel, but not the others. Cancun was amazing. Prettiest beach I had ever seen. The same sand as Cozumel, where it is always cold, no matter how hot the sun is. I love that!
It’s from a natural element that keeps the sand cold. The water would turn colors like a mood ring…And the fishies were so colorful and I felt they were swimming with me. I would like to the try the puerto rico cruise, and all the other places it would go to. My spanish is okay….Why not?
    Thanks,

Jacqueline, you are a girl after my own heart! (Love the wine…and the dessert!)
You can find lots of solar statues through an online catalog that I always shop. It’s called Collections Etc. That’s where I got a lot of my lights and fairy statues, and windchimes, too. They are very inexpensive, which is a plus. Let me know if you check it out and if you find anything.

    Hi Kathy-
Yes, I have heard all about Padre Island.
Each state has something wonderful to offer. One day I want to travel by vehicle all over this big board….
My first route? Southern, of course…and then take route 66 back home…
    Always wanted to do that!!
I would be excited to get to texas because that would mean I am halfway to the other side! This is a wonderful country, we are very lucky to live here and be free! Miss Krystal

Yes, South Padre is wonderful!Actually one of the most relaxing vacations I have ever had!I went to Port A a couple weekends ago and it is alot of fun as well!
You are exactly right about our food! That’s why San Antonio is the fattest city – haha! Luckily I keep my treadmill right next to my bed, it has to be a morning routine or all that Mexican food will catch up with you 🙂
The Alamo is great as well. Funny though, after my 600th trip it lost some appeal. Just kidding! You’re right everyone wants to visit The Alamo and it is definitely worth it!
I love to travel! Definitely top of my list of things to do.

That is terrible the wind can do such damage, I think the biggest question is, how do you sleep at night? the howling of the wind always would keep me up, so tell us do you use ear plugs? Tell us your secret.

TypePadWhen I lived in Italy I went to the Isle of Capri it was very nice. Where I found peace, comfort and an overall feel of true spiritual bliss was on the Isle of Ischia it iis very tropical and is one of the sister Isles of Capri without that heavy tourist trap feel. Thats where I’d love to go. My son Sean loved his 12 birthday there we spent in the spa with facials, massage. sunning, swimming eating wonderful foods. He later said Mom that was so much fun I really enjoyed my day ….he was a hit at the pool with the beautiful young Italian girls LOL

Found parts of the chimes yards away in anothers person’s field.
Even took out, I maen carried away,…… LOL, my water fountain.
Time to start collecting new chimes,I collect statues with those new solar lights .

I grew up in southern california. Ever since I was a baby, I spent my 4th of July at a place called Catalina Island. I always had fun. But when I went to the Island of Capri, in Italy, I realized what Catalina Island was really all about it. Catalina Island is a almost copy of Island of the Capri. We have a little taste of Italy, right here in southern California. I can either take a ship, which is two hours, or, a plane ride that is about 20 minutes. If anyone is ever visiting california, go to Catalina. You will be glad…

    Hi Kathy,
Yes,…….. It’s a great place but getting used to the weather here is a challenge…I’ve been directly hit now 4 times by tornados since 2001….I’ve put 3 roofs on my house in that same time period.
But…it’s normally so peaceful and quiet here….a traffic jam here is getting behind an Amish horse and buggy…sure beats gridlock traffic on the Dan Ryan expressway in Chicago where I’m originally from.
But, every place has it’s positives and negatives…..

Well…I’m kind of lucky….I live in a part of the Ozark Mountain range ( Ozark mountains span three states down south )….
On one side of me is a National Forest, Mark Twain Forest…..on the other side of me is a State Park.
So, unless, I’m yearning for a different change of scenery…….all I need to do is step outside.
Except for all of the tornados that run a course thru here in tornado alley, ( I’ve replaced 3 roofs since 2001 due to being hit by tornados)….it’s a beautiful place to live.

    hi josepha-
it’s down the street from the little city-it’s near camp grounds. You can ask someone I am sure they would tell you, it is very popular. It is very close-their are benches, markers for hiking etc. I just don’t know the exact directions, I know by sense.
It is very easy to find, just ask someone…I totally suggest it.
    Refreshing, to say the least…
    peace,

    Oh Gina Rose,
I follow that….cheers! I have a little place here-it’s up in central california, called Solvang.
It’s a little Danish town with charm and a lot fun. But what I like the most, is a trail in Solvang that you hike up, and it ends with a huge gorgeous water fall, nestled in gorgeous green bush…
A little piece of heaven for sure…
    Peace,
