Evil Origins

I’ve always wondered, is there such a thing as an evil force? Is evil a learned behavior, or is it something one is born with? Most importantly, is evil a “force” from an outside source like a God (for lack of a better word)? When I looked into it, what I found really baffled me. I tend to think about things in black or white – this, however, is still a gray area.

Studies have been done on evil. The results were actually pretty astounding. It seems that the human brain is hard-wired to know the difference between “good” and “bad” or right and wrong. When MRIs were conducted on people facing basic moral dilemmas, each question answered would cause the same area in the brain to fire. This suggests that almost all humans are, in fact, hard-wired to know the difference between good (to not harm) and bad (to harm).

Of course there was the Stanford prison experiment that inspired the book, The Lucifer Effect: How Good People Turn Evil, which explained that ‘perfectly good’ people would turn not only bad, but absolutely evil, when being put in the right environment. How many kids are faced with bullies every day? It seems to be much harder for kids to do the ‘right thing’ instead of following the rest and participating in ‘bad things’… or simply looking the other way. Hence, it can be said that evil can be taught or conditioned. It is important to teach our children not to cause harm to others.

Then there are sociopaths. These individuals stand out because they often come from perfectly normal environments. They didn’t necessarily endure abuse, bullying, or have been traumatized in any way. Ironically, most sociopaths tend to be incredibly charming, witty and very charismatic. It seems as if they were “born” with a certain defect, an evil gene if you will, which causes them to engage in behaviors or thought patterns that almost remove them from being human. They can be totally void of any form of sympathy, empathy, or concern and love for others. They are unable to have friendships or relationships and are highly manipulative. Some say it is a learned or taught condition, and others say it’s brain chemistry.

Could there be an “evil” force out there? Years ago I briefly dated a sociopath. Prior to meeting him I didn’t believe in the concept of pure good or evil and felt that human beings were conditioned or free to choose either. Even just remembering this person gives me the chills. I had never met anyone without a conscience. There is a part of him that made me wonder about the possibility of evil. There was a physical transformation when he would “go to the dark side.” As stupid as I feel saying it, this was exactly how it seemed. It was as if he stepped away and something else took over. His voice would change and his eyes would turn black. Not to mention the energy that surrounded him. It literally felt as if the temperature had dropped and I would fear for my life. Explain that to me using brain chemistry.

I believe we can explain a lot of phenomena with science and sometimes with supernatural explanations … I also believe that there are things out there that my brain simply cannot explain, fathom or even grasp … I think I might have to leave it at that.

    Hi Rhonda,
The first thing that came in when reading your post was a confirmation that the dark energy you experienced was what some us of refer to as an “inhuman” energy. Inhuman energies/entities can run the gamut and are not always necessarily negative, however, when we do encounter one that is, the signs are very clear and intuition (and the fight or flight response) becomes elevated.

There is a common saying in the energy psychology field that what you focus on energetically becomes stronger. Being compelled to hide your thoughts and feeling apprehensive was your intuitive/inner guide warning you that you were experiencing a less than positive energy force. I have experienced something similar many times, both with “shadow people” and while doing house clearings to remove very low level energies.

Saying a prayer to St/Archangel Michael is a great way to bring in immediate protective energy should you experience this again.

    Bright Blessings~

After reading about evil origins. I thought back to a very recent experience. I felt this very dark force. At first it actually scared me… and even told myself to hide my thoughts. Basically I didn’t want this force to know I even was aware of it. I don’t believe it was a living human being… first time in my life ever had this experience. Anyways.. maybe more curious if anyone else has had this happen to them.

I, too, believe that “evil” exists. I also think one can sense the difference between the chemically off people and those who are clearly just “dark” in soul and energy. I think it is something most of us sense, children and animals can easily sense it as well.

My point was that there are so many “scientists” out there, who claim that all supernatural, spiritual or energetic things can be traced back to brain chemistry and science. I don’t think that is the case. Hence, I wrote about it 🙂

Great article Carmen…..while most of us will become like our environment there are those as you pointed out that come from healthy loving homes that are able to creep into society like the famous Ted Bundy with all their charm calling in the victims at will. These people are chemically altered or defected in the brain area. Then there are actual possessions from spirits too that science has a real hard time explaining. The summer of 2008 brought something to my home that took me, a Shaman and a very gifted medium to get out. I played the Prayer to it every day. I blessed it. I cleared my space with several mixes of incense and the Shaman sent in the Thunderbird. This will be a chapter in the book I will write. It took 3 weeks to clear uuggg……There are things that just blow your mind so trying and I say trying to explain or rationalize it will make your brain tired. 🙂

    Many Blessings

    Hi Carmen,
Thanks for writing. I agree with you in saying “evil” is an incredibly gray area. However, it IS there. Unfortunately, one of my “gifts” is in seeing evil entities (demons). Subsequently, I do a lot of house (and people) clearings. Sylvia Brown says there is no such thing as evil and that a spirit can bring no harm to a person. I have directly experienced the opposite, and documentation within the Catholic church supports this.

Evil DOES exist, spiritually and physically, and it DOES effect us. However, there are infinite ways to “ward off” or protect ourselves from evil, and this is where prayers, invoking archangels like Michael, and using physical items charged with protective intent come in. The most important mechanism of protection is keeping your personal vibration high through meditation and holding loving thoughts.

Great article! Keep em’ coming =)

    Namaste and Blessings~

    Hi Carmen,
I do believe in both actually……

I work with Psychiatrists and have witnessed mutiple personality disorder, where, as you desribed, another personality would take over……..

…but I’ve also done much work in para-normal research area where a person would be possessed by a malevolent spirit in the house.

So I believe there are both factors to consider…..

Another great article Carmen…….you know I LOVE reading your articles !!!!

    Blessed Be )O(
