3 Reasons Why You Should Follow Your Instincts

Trust Your Gut

Sure, we’re not all full-fledged psychics. However, each and every one of us is born with a natural set of instincts—a sixth sense, if you will, which allows us to literally feel danger or excitement or trepidation regarding an ill informed decision. In fact, your gut (as it’s also called) can tell you just about everything you need to know about everything you do and every situation you enter—romantic or otherwise. The key is learning to trust it.

Here are three reasons you should always follow your instincts.

1. We tend to talk ourselves into (or out of) things.

Researchers have proven that people make some of their best decisions based on information gleaned in an instant. In other words, when we think without actually thinking, drawing subconsciously on the wealth of information we’ve amassed over a lifetime through each of our senses and all of our experiences as opposed to conscious, “logical,” deductive reasoning, our choices are more often the right ones. Why? Because with all the information we’ve got swimming around in our heads, it’s easy to talk ourselves out of our initial, subconscious impressions. There are facts and figures to support any point of view we want to take and that’s often the direction we’ll go. However, it’s our instant, instinctual responses that we should usually trust!

2. Your gut gets stronger the more you rely on it.

As with most things, the more you turn to your gut for answers, the more fine tuned your inner voice will become. If you constantly rely upon outside sources in order to make your decisions, your own instincts can get lazy. You miss information you shouldn’t—signs, feelings, instincts—simply because you’re not paying attention. However, if you become present in your body and make it a point to experience everything that arises, you may be surprised at all that your natural sixth sense offers. On that note, you should trust your gut, because:

3. It’s the universe’s biological gift to all of us!

Butterflies in your stomach, a pounding heart, sweaty palms—these are all your body’s ways of telling you there’s something going on and you ought to pay attention. It’s up to you to determine whether that’s fear, excitement, just plain nerves or any one of a whole host of emotions. The point is, if you don’t think on it too much and simply respond to the signals you’re experiencing, odds are, you’ll know what they’re saying—and you’ll know what to do.

I am just starting to listen to myself, not just the gut, but also “the little voice,” which a psychic friend of mine has identified as my departed Grandpa, who looks out for me. I consider myself “in training,” as of this summer, and can’t wait to quit listening to my head. It acts like a Gemini (my rising sign), this way or that? But what if… . I know I have some tests to pass, and I know it won’t always be easy, but life will be so much better when I’m tuned in and singing along.

Absolutely 100% Agree!!!! My gut has never lied to me as my head and heart has. Always listen to your gut even if its not what you want to do, believe, or trust at that time.

I totally agree 100%. One day my gut told me to go to the ER and when I went I was FINE and started thinking maybe I was hungry, but I stayed and when they got me in the back, that’s when I had a cyst that busted and I thought I was going to die. I was lucky that only a cyst busted……it could have been my overy, since at the time my overy was the size of a orange.

I read your column daily and most of the time, it is correct. I live a dull boring life and hoping things will change soon and according to my reading, it should be changing shortly. I sure hope you’re correct.

    AND…

because….. the RIGHT side of your brain ,rules the creative/psychic process…. think of it as a muscle, …it will grow stronger each time you use it as you are creating NEW neuro-pathways in the right side of the brain EACH time you trust your intuition.

( I’m published in this area by the way, and go into great detail about this when training new psychics )

    Great article !
