Blue Moons vs. Black Moons

Blue Moons are most likely to occur during July, October and August. February is the only month which rarely can skip a Full Moon. When this takes place, the resulting Blue Moon is either in January or March. Four to five times in the course of a century there will be a year with two Blue Moons.

Black Moon is the name given to the less understood and less touted second New Moon in the course of a single calendar month. The Black Moon opens a portal to other dimensions. Honored by Wiccans and various schools of Magicians, the Black Moon is a fertile time to connect with ghosts and the world of fairies and the planes where the ascended masters walk. It augurs a cycle of mystery and magic, even more mystical than the Blue Moon. The double New Moons are associated with higher consciousness, altered states of awareness and hidden wisdom.

    Hi s.michael,
According to all of the “HYPE” the world is supposed to end on Dec,21, 2012.

But….the night of Dec.20, 2012 I’ll be setting up my coffeepot to brew a pot of coffee for morning, just like I do every night…..

    …and I’d wager a bet that
on the morning of Dec.21,2012 I wake up to freshly brewed coffee …not the end of the world.

I feel you will not only live to see your retirement, but will actually get a chance to enjoy it as well.

    Blessed Be )O(

Hello Verbena! Merry Christmas to you! So sorry for the delay in reply to your concerns. I was without a computer for over 12 days because of a virus. But, I am back! 😉 And, I believe that GinaRose answered your questions. The fact that there are Blue Moons and Black Moons have nothing to do with Astrological signs. Just the Astronomical phenomena of two Full Moons in a month or two New Moons in a month.
    Merry Christmas to you!

Hello dear Michael! I am sure we will be here 1/1/13. You have a lot to look forward to. Yes, 2009 has been a tough year, but you will also have a much better year in 2010.
    Merry Christmas! Amelia

In regards to our beautiful Blue Moons And of course, Our Insightly Black Moons; Someone forgot to mention our
very rare and grand Blue Moon this Month of December2009!!
Plus our most AWSOME show of FALLING STARS that begins every Dec.12-Dec.14. This year we are blessed with a Blue Moon shortly after our Geminids pass by us!!
Now, How Blessed are we? Pretty Blessed, Don’t you think?

    Hi Verbena,
If you listen to your weatherman between now and Dec 31st…when the lunar eclipse falls on a ” blue ” moon…… because any meteorologist,
( and astronomers too), will explain blue moons and black moons the same way too.
    Happy Holidays….
Blessed Be )O( Gina Rose ext.9500
Nasa has some really great info at their site that chart eclipses, including latitudes and longitudes, and where they can and cannot be seen visibly, etc.

    Hi Verbena,
Both terms are based upon scientific
A ” blue ” moon is ALWAYS the second FULL moon to occur within the same month… the correct astronomically definition.
FYI : Nasa and astronomers concur.
A ” black ” moon is also the second NEW moon to occur within the same month.
Astrological signs have nothing whatsoever to do with this definition. It is a false myth that these terms aply to two moons in any sign.
    I hope this helps.
    Blessed Be )O(…..Gina Rose ext.9500
PS….Even the other Wiccans I know go by the correct scientific definition.

HI Gina Rose . . . glad you liked it. I have always felt that ‘knowledge is power’, and the more we know about how our universe works and the energy that surrounds us, the more fulfilled lives we live. I would love to hear about the Wiccan World and their ceremonies.

    Hi Amelia,
    I loved this article….
As an hereditary Wiccan, black moons are generally used for magickal workings when starting anything new…..such as a new business, new job, even new romance.
Blue moons, and full moons in general though, in Wicca, are generally considered to be much stronger and have much more impact. But again, it all depends on the ceremony and circumstance.
    And most Wiccans are extremely
active and do much ” casting” during a lunar eclipse.
    Very nice article….
    Blessed Be )O(
