 Jim Morrison
What do you think, Sagittarius? Today marks what would have been the 65th birthday of Jim Morrison, the self-proclaimed Lizard King. A seminal figure in the history of rock 'n' roll, The Doors frontman was largely influenced by Native American lore and regularly did a "ghost dance" as part of his stage performance. The visionary poet was inspired to name the band The Doors after reading Aldous Huxley's book, The Doors of Perception, which was in turn a reference to mystic William Blake's poem, "The Marriage Between Heaven and Hell." True to his Sagittarian nature, Morrison never actually owned a home - preferring to sleep in hotels or even on rooftops in Venice Beach, California. He remains to this day a rock icon with his music in heavy rotation and his likeness popularized in books and film.
