A Medium Brings Closure

When a husband comes through

by Daina Hulet

Keith ext. 9539 had a client who had visited several psychics in person, but unfortunately the readings were unsuccessful. Constance (not her real name), who had unexpectedly lost her husband, called wondering if Keith could do what the others couldn't do - over the phone. "I have so many unanswered questions," she told him.

"I've been doing this a long time, but don't expect me to just pick up the heaven phone and connect you," Keith said laughing and explained that conditions do need to be right for a spirit to come through. "When they are there with a message it's because there is unfinished business. If a client wants me to contact their spouse who has passed over, I focus... then listen for someone to come through."

Often when there is an unexpected death of a spouse there is business which was left unplanned and discussions put off because there didn't seem to be any rush. Out of respect to the one who has been suddenly lost, those left behind can worry that they are following their loved one's wishes. They have trouble moving on or live in the past because they find themselves stuck as to what to do, or what to think. Often, a Medium can help bring closure to both parties when important matters have been left unsettled.

"What are you doing right now? Smith is asking. What can you tell me?" Keith quizzed Constance channeling her husband.

"Oh my god, you are the real thing! I didn't even tell you his name… that's what he'd say to me as we sat down to dinner and talk about our day. "What can you tell me Constance, I love you..." she said bursting into tears.

Keith continued without hesitation. "What happened to this retired guy on his horse?" he said actually knowing there had been an accident. "He wants you to stop blaming yourself for everything and he wants you to get him out of the closet and let him go."

Constance admitted to Keith that it had been a year since his accident and she did have his urn in the bedroom closet. She couldn't bring herself to spread his ashes, yet.

"What are you doing now? Smith keeps asking, "Keith repeated passing on her husband's question once again.

"I just want to be with him… I just want to be with him…" she whispered tearfully.

The psychic and Constance talked about her feelings and the emptiness she felt.

Their children were grown and she was floundering without her husband's good company. Keith asked his client if she'd ever had a dream that she didn't have time for after she married and had a family.

"Oh, that's easy… a tea and biscuit shop that would also cater small events. I even worked for a caterer for awhile… that's how I met Smith."

"You sound happy when you talk about this. What about starting a new life that's just for you?" Keith asked. He didn't get an answer from Constance. After a long silence, she thanked him for the reading and said she would call again with questions for Smith.

Over the following months Constance occasionally called Keith with a question for her husband. His responses were simple and constant, the Medium explained. "Smith just wanted to know what she was doing now... and he kept referring to a briefcase and documents."

"I found it! There was an insurance policy in the little case where Smith kept his collection of our grandchildren's art. I thought I'd looked into everything you could possibly call a briefcase around his study… I didn't know anything about this. Is it for our grandchildren?"

Keith got the answer from Smith. "He says you need to be his eyes to watch your grandchildren grow, but you can't do that when your eyes are always watery… Remember me for my life, not my death" he's saying. "Are you watching tapes of his funeral?" Keith asked quizzically. And then without getting an answer the Medium suggested to Constance to get rid of the tapes and spread Smith's ashes.

"I saw a little waterfront space in town that would make a charming tea shop… My daughter is so excited about the idea that she wants to work with me. With the insurance money, I have enough to get us started. We were thinking maybe we'd spread some of Smith's ashes there and take the rest down to the water."

"He's singing," Keith hummed and added the lyrics, "The best is yet to come and won't that be fine…"

"That's our song," Constance shrieked with excitement. "How in the world do you do what you do?"

"I don't know," Keith responded honestly. "I don't question anything, I just listen."
