When do you throw in the towel, call it quits, give up on love and break it off with the one you're committed to, whether you're in an exclusive partnership, engaged or married? It's a serious subject that drives callers to California Psychics for readings, because it's not the kind of thing you do lightly.

The effects are painful, can be financially and emotionally disabling, and often involve breaking up with other family members, as well. Callers are hesitant to make a move, make a wrong move, break their partner's heart, or may feel like they're too deep into their partnered lives, to ever extricate themselves from their involvement.

How can we truly know for sure if it is time to leave a relationship, break an engagement or leave a marriage? We asked our psychic team how they help callers look into the question as well as the kind of guidance they share with clients on the matter.

If there's absolutely no chance of healing the situation, if the differences truly appear irreconcilable, love seems to be gone, arguments never end, or perhaps a third person is involved - whatever the issue - if you're constantly second guessing yourself, you don't have to go from indifference directly to divorce.

Our psychics say, a separation can be a healthier choice than making no moves at all. When the idea of making the wrong decision is keeping you stuck in unhappiness, it gives you a chance to make sure that if you do break up… you're doing it with your eye's wide open, Verbena ext. 9615 suggests.

"Sometimes just letting go of the rope, stepping away from the emotional tug of war by separating, releases energy for healing that can move in surprising directions. It clears space for centering, and leaves room for insights which aren't available when you're obsessing and feeling guilty," Verbena continues. "Into the cleared, calmer space can come ideas, insights and alternatives that will almost always show you solutions that feel right, both to you, and to the others involved."

This is a good time to decide if there is any chance of healing the bond, our psychics say. "Only leave a committed relationship after exhausting all possibilities of making it work. There were obviously strong reasons that brought you into the relationship to begin with, and in order to have closure you want to do all you can," advises Jonathan ext. 9601. "Far too often people find themselves realizing that a relationship was worth saving after it's too late to turn back the clock."

When contemplating these difficult steps a reading can help provide comfort to callers. "When my clients ask me these very serious, sensitive questions we go over what brought them to these relationship questions in the first place via Tarot cards, a validation of situations, circumstances and timing," tells TeriLynn ext. 9625.

"If you are not feeling loved then maybe it's time to rethink your plans with your partner," BlackHawk ext. 9353 suggests. The psychic had a caller who had neither felt love nor loved her partner during the last three years of her marriage - she was miserable. Her reason for staying was for her children's well-being, "yet think of the message that you're reinforcing for your children," he counseled his client. Three months after his intuitive advice, the psychic heard back from his customer. She had gotten her old job back, had moved out with the children and they were all doing well.

On the other hand, TeriLynn tells about a client who was consulting a lawyer secretly about ending her marriage over unsolvable arguments. The psychic looked into their problems and it appeared their communication was severely off-kilter. The intuitive suggested the couple approach their conversations with a pad and pen, advising that they each write down their feelings and thoughts and exchange pads until they felt understood, whenever emotions ran too high to continue a conversation. "My client called back reporting that they had misunderstood each other for years. Luckily she found out, before she had to take back the word divorce!'"

"It's hard for me to tell someone that things aren't going to work with their beloved but, it's important to be honest and help the caller," reveals Debra ext. 9596. "I have callers who are worried about what a divorce will do to their finances and their children, as well as clients who see no chance of happiness in their relationships and finally took a leap of faith because I could see that all would be okay or even better, if they moved on."

Relationships are learning experiences Jonathan, Darcy ext. 9488 and Sylvia ext. 9520 agree." When you are thinking seriously of breaking up a committed relationship, as long as there is an energy towards goals that are agreed upon, you are growing together," Sylvia suggests. "If your partnership is dull, dried up and stagnant and you both have reevaluated the relationship and find you cannot reset the spark, it's time to move apart."
